KrissySMD 38 Posted June 24, 2014 So I had my surgery on June 3rd. Was doing pretty well till about a week ago. Ended up dehydrated over this past weekend and landed in the hospital for 3 days because I kept vomiting and having diarrhea. They did a barium study to look for any strictures and found none but did find that I have horrible reflux. Now I'm home on a clear liquid only diet. What do I do for Protein??? I cannot get a hold of my surgeon's office. I was admitted to a local hospital, not where I had my surgery. And they do not do bariatric there. I am lost! Can anyone give advice? Thanks so much! DarbiMolly 188 Posted June 24, 2014 I am in my last week of pre op on a strict clear liquid diet. I am using "Fruit Blast" - mango flavour - by 4EverFit. Its a powder but it is considered a clear Protein. 1 BeagleLover reacted to this

catfish87 3,471 Posted June 24, 2014 Just a thought...UNTIL you can get in touch with your bariatric surgeon: If someone put you on a "clear liquid" diet, maybe they don't want you taking in Protein for a day or so. Trying to give your stomach/system a rest for a day or so?? As for Liquid Protein, I use New whey Liquid Protein shots at times. Best wishes on a resolution! JerseyCityGal 231 Posted June 24, 2014 Isopure has a clear liquid Protein drink. It's sold at GNC. 1 BeagleLover reacted to this
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted June 24, 2014 Most Syntrax Nectar flavors mix clear with Water. In addition to online shopping, I believe you can buy it at the physical Vitamin Shoppe locations. Vitamin Shoppe also sells the Isopure drinks mentioned above. I had to dilute the Isopure 50/50 with G2 or Powerade Zero in order to get it down, but it has great numbers in terms of calories/carbs/protein, so it will do you good even diluted. 1 BeagleLover reacted to this
KrissySMD 38 Posted June 24, 2014 Isopure makes me gag. Even diluted. I have some of the new way in grape. I'm diluting that big time. It's a good thought on whether I should be doing Protein at all. Hope the doctor calls soon. Thanks for the input. 2 catfish87 and BeagleLover reacted to this
BeagleLover 1,020 Posted June 24, 2014 On this site today,I was lucky to read that a member, while in the hospital for surgery, received either ProSource and ProSource Plus liquid Protein, mixed with Crystal Lite. Amazon has it; so does First Option Medical: http://www.firstoptionmedical.com/Medtrition-National-Nutrition-Prosource-Liquid-Ora-p/35210.htm ProSource Plus is carried by Amazon and http://www.healthykin.com. It's an unflavored liquid Protein, added to cold or hot liquids (no clumping). I'm still researching it, but think it might be more versatile and better than buying very expensive ready-mixed clear Protein drinks, protein powders that don't mix well, having to buy large amounts that don't taste good after surgery, or the aftertaste often reported. I'm going to show the info to my NUT to see if she would recommend it. Hope this helps!
KrissySMD 38 Posted June 24, 2014 Thank you all for your kind responses. I finally got a hold of my surgeon. She wanted me to start soft food again to see if would help with my nausea. It has! I'm eating slowly every 2-3 hours. Doing better. 2 catfish87 and BeagleLover reacted to this
