My hospital gives 3 months off work, but I was able to convince my doctor that I only needed 2 months. I still got tired easily, even after 2 months. I honestly don't know how people go back to work after 2 weeks, there is no way I could've done that. I guess it depends what you do and if you have easy access to a washroom. lol Good luck.

My dr put me off work for 5 weeks. I'm barely one week out right now but planning on taking the whole time. My company has "continuance pay" for salaried employees so I don't have to use any pto for my time off except to exhaust my sick time. I've seen that some people go back after one week - feeling how I am right now I honestly don't see how people do it. And I have a desk job!!

I run my own business, so I only took a week off. It was fine, but two weeks would have been great.

I took a week and planned to go back working some days from home, some in the office. However, I got put back in the hospital for pneumonia and that completely wiped me out. I ended up working 3-1/2 days the second week -- only 1 day in the office and the others from home. I have a desk job. The day I came into the office I rode with a friend so I wouldn't have to drive because I wasn't sure I was up to that yet.

I'm back on my regular schedule this week -- 3 days in office, 2 from home. I feel a lot better now that I'm on pureed foods and over the pneumonia. I still am taking about a half hour in the middle of the day to go to the nursing mothers' room and take a quick nap on the couch. Don't think I could make it without that.

I guess it all depends on your personal situation, how the surgery goes, what kind of work you do and whether you have any complications or not.

Like cutie cake, I own my own business so I would have loved to take two weeks off, but I could only do one week. I was tired but managed just fine. I would have been insanely bored with more than two weeks anyways.

I was out for 4 weeks, because I have physically demanding job, but normally it would've been 1-2 weeks, depending on person.

I'm back at work after one week off and regretting it. I didn't want to use all my sick or vacation leave and came back against my doctor's advice. By the end of the day yesterday, it was all I could do to walk to my car and drive home. I was in bed by 6. Getting my Protein and fluids in was the last thing on my mind and I'll have to work really hard to get them in today, especially since I anticipate a repeat of yesterday. I'm usually pretty stoic and I almost never miss work due to illness. I overestimated my resilience and wish I had taken at least 2 weeks before trying to return to work full-time.

I took three weeks off from my desk job and that seemed to be just about right. The first week I was a zombie

The second week I was still tired, I guess from sleeping in the unnatural position and such

I planned to take one week off and then for another week, work half days. I ended up taking two full weeks off and then the first three days back, worked half days. I underestimated my fatigue and the amount of energy and focus I would be spending on making sure I got all my fluids and Protein in.

I have a desk job and can work from home. I had surgery on a Monday, worked at home on a Thursday and then went back the following Tuesday, about a week later.

I was completely fine.

I'm a teacher and was off for 4 weeks. I could have used 6! I was very tired and it messed up my eating/drinking schedule. Luckily, I went back only 2 weeks before summer break, so now I'm home until late August. :) My body is still adjusting to all this...

I can only take a week. I guess it just depends on the person, I've also read where some people take 3 days off but the majority that I read said they take a week and did just fine.

Well if you are planning on getting surgery this summer and you are here in the south, I would be very cautious about going back to work too fast. The heat will do a number on you. It would be very easy to get dehydrated and that would not be good. I guess it is different for everybody. I just did not want to get into any uncomfortable situations at work.

You probably will not have a firm stool for a while, maybe not until the second week after surgery. I would not like to go to work and have to deal with something, shall I say unexpected?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
