Time off work-did you need more or less

Recommended Posts

Hi, I get my surgery on 7/3/14 my doctor only giving me 2 weeks off, said he will not do no more, he said there's no need, so I guess I'm back after 2 weeks. Now what I'm nervous about is school I have to be back 4 days after my surgery because of financial aid, I'm hoping I'll be able to sit in class 3 hours two times a week.

I'm a nurse and took 3 weeks off. It was just the right amount of time for me.

I took 3 due to fatigue and bowel problems I did not want to deal with at work.

I work for myself so I've been trying to balance work and my lack of energy. Surgery was 6/21...I was released from the hospital on 6/23 and I had a court hearing in heels the morning of the 25th. I took the rest of that week off and only worked about 4 hours a day this week. My dr keeps you on Clear liquids for a week after you are released and so I had very little energy. I go back to my regular schedule on Monday. I can't wait until I can get to soft foods on 7/13. I think that will really help my energy level. I'm dreaming of scrambled eggs at night lol

I haven't had any pain and feel pretty good. Maybe it's not so much a lack of energy as it is I really like this not working thing and wish I could just stay at home a few more weeks.

I scheduled 3 weeks but after dehydration, UTI, and low potassium I ended up needing 6 weeks to completely recover. Everybody is defiantly different. I would say just wait and see.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
