I agree the Bariatric Advantage gave me terrible gas and diarrhea and the Unjury I thought were gross and too sweet. It took me a long time to find the right fit!

Hi, so which shakes did you finally settle on? I thought Unjury products were well liked.

Syntrex makes a great Peanut Butter cookie shake and a strawberry one. They also have one I mix with Water - fuzzy navel. Otherwise I get Body fortress shakes - they have some great flavors as well. For packaged ones - Premier Protein are good - I get mine from costco.

I use the Syntrax matrix Peanut Butter cookie not too sweet and not too thick, I mix it with milkfor the extra Protein and calories since I do not eat much at "meals". I had a really hard time in the beginning and was only able to start shakes after one month post surgery. I also like the Atkins pre made shakes for when Im on the go. $5 something for 4 at Walmart not too sweet and none of that artificial sweetner taste I can't tolerate since my surgery!

I actually said the same thing to him. And even went as far as to refuse to purchase the 60$ Protein Powder he wanted me to buy. I know that he gets a pay out for pushing product. I bought the minimal before post op and i bought only what I wanted after. And now I am not even using his products nor will i be purchasing anymore. A friend of mine had the sleeve done at a different place and they didn't make her buy anything. And the messed up thing about it all is that they make you feel like if you don't buy what they say you need then they will cancel your surgery. Live and Learn, I wish I would have explored more doctors. But I was just so excited to get it done I wont say it was a bad experience just one that seemed a little shady in some areas. So far with my after care they have been great but we will see if that changes at my two week check up Thursday.

Is it just me or does anyone else think it's a conflict of interest for a dr to be selling supplements and insisting you purchase them? Not cool.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
