mistydawn275 1 Posted June 23, 2014 June 25, 2014, is my surgery date. Today as I am getting ready to order mexican for the last time for a long time, I am disturbingly sad. I am sitting here thinking about all of the foods I am going to miss so much including Jersey Mike's Subs, Papa John's pizza, McDonald's double cheeseburgers, potato salad, ribs, spaghetti and meatballs. My goodness, I am pathetic, my list could go on and on. I know I need to get it together. I keep asking myself if I am doing the right thing. Could I do this on my own? I was skinny once. Surely I can do it again without something this drastic. My emotions are all over the place. I am curious if anyone else out there has/had the same emotions pre-surgery. I would love to know because right now, I am a hot mess. ~M~
BeagleLover 1,020 Posted June 23, 2014 I will be a hot mess in around two months. From what I've read, your tastes will change and you will enjoy food again, just different healthier foods. Best of luck!

I am giving myself pep talks to help ..like nothing tastes as good as feeling and being healthy! Also we can still taste those foods but just not pig out on them! It is helping me to stop mourning my best "food" friends! Louise (Weezy) I was skinny 30 yrs ago but can't seem to do it on my own! 2 tfowler and BeagleLover reacted to this
mike5232 22 Posted June 24, 2014 I am the 25th also! I completely know how you feel! Over Eating is like an old friend to me. A friend that has been bad for me, and I am taking out of my life. I know life without my friend will be better for me, but I love my friend, and will miss it. It's time to say goodbye, and I'm glad I am in a position to do it. I pray for strength for all of us, to be able to control our urges, and quickly correct any mistakes that we may make. I hope your surgery goes well! 2 JCP and BeagleLover reacted to this
Nellani78 2 Posted June 24, 2014 Hey Misty my surgery is in June 25th also. I'm currently on a two day liquid diet!! Ugh!! The torture!! I think it's normal to think about all the foods your going to miss!! Just remember that in the end you really not going to miss it all.
Dreamin Again 112 Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) You should be able to have all the foods you love again...eventually, just in much smaller amounts. I know my surgery is a ways off but my innerself keeps asking me "Are you sure you can't just do this with dieting alone? Do you really need surgery to lose weight?" It seems like it should be so simple -- eat less and healthier and move more but I have been down that path sooo many times and it has not worked. You will do fantastic tomorrow. Good luck to those of you having surgery on the 25th and I hope you have a quick and easy recovery Edited June 24, 2014 by Dreamin_Again 1 BeagleLover reacted to this
mike5232 22 Posted June 30, 2014 Ladies, how are you progressing? I am doing surprisingly well so far. Pretty sure my surgeon is a stud, and was part of a great program to prepare me for all of this. The gas is pretty extreme, mother then that, no complications. Please let me know how y'all are doing.....
