Hi Guys,

so I have ben searching for something like this so I can find answers to some of my questions, I have so far been watching loads of videos but have noticed a lot of the people making video diary's on Youtube are form America, which is not a issue as I am sure the surgery is the same but would be nice to find out if there is anyone closer to me - I live in south London (England). please let me know if your a little closer to me that would be fab!!

So before I get babbling my topic and main points I wanted to talk about is how I'm feeling - I had my band fitted on Saturday 21st 2014 so I am 2-3 days post op, my port area is really painful I have all my incisions on my left upper side which is why I think its so tender - I have been ok with gas as I have been walking around my house and it seems to be moving but I did get shoulder pain to begin with, I was a little naive as to how painful it would be as the videos I have watched nobody ever really complained about the port but more the gas so complete opposite to me I guess, but I have seen some comments on here which suggest that the port area tenderness seems to fade after around day 3-4 I pray that is the case as I'm back to work next week Monday.

I was also wondering I have to keep my compression stockings on for 5 days!!! has anyone else been advised to do this - I know its to help but it is really hot here in London at the moment so want to just rip them off...! but I wont :)

Also I have been sent home with 6 days worth of injections I have to give myself once a day - again has anyone else had to do this as I haven't seen or read anyone else mention it? I was told they are to prevent blood clots both the injections and stockings but again anyone who as experienced this please let me know

thanks for reading look forward to your comments

Hello

I had surgery on June 20, so I'm with you, about 3 days post-op. My 3 incisions are in the shape of a triangle, but the port area is where most of the soreness is. The soreness is not as bad as it was, getting much better. I'm trying to get past the gas pain. I didn't think it would be this bad. Like you, I'm back to work next Monday too. No stockings or injections for me, but I'm sure every surgeon is different on what they want their patients to do post-op.

Hi

I'm in the same boat as you, had my op on the 20th

Sent home the next day.. I had wind pain and also where the port is.

Have been given 6injections but have taken of my socks because I'm quite mobile in the house.

I'm also in south London hoping this operation is a success.. At the moment suffering from severe heart burn..

Lets hope for the best ????

Hi there, try an ice pack on the port site -- that really worked for me. Congratulations on the surgery and this whole new chapter. You will feel better each day. I had heparin injections while in the hospital but did not have to do it at home. One thing about this is how much protocols vary. I also had no compression stockings. Mid-summer seems like a very suspicious time for this big change -- choosing your healthy future. Best wishes and so glad you found this forum. It has helped me enormously.

Good grief, that's AUSPICIOUS, not suspicious, lol. Thanks a lot iPad (I cannot edit from here.....). Keep us the walking -- that is really the key, and know that later you won't even be able to recall this discomfort. I am seven months out and so happy. It's amazing.

Thank you bandista

Can't get to sleep cause of the heart burn, soon as I get into bed I feel nauseous .

Hope this phase passes soon

hey Guys,

thank you for all your comments, I woke up feeling a little better today I noticed my port area is more sore when I have been sitting and then get up to walk around?

I have been trying to keep up my Fluid intake but no way have I been getting through 2-3ltr but I have spoken with my nurse and she said this is fine and just to drink as much as I can - I have really been relying on cuppa Soup (chicken) and Heinz Soups, I actually managed to finish my first pot of muller yoghurt today which I am really happy with as I have not managed to get a quarter of the way through since surgery as it is a bit thick, so I know the swelling is going down..!

Has anyone got any suggestions on what else I can eat that worked for them? I have been told anything that can go through a straw I can have, please let me know what worked for you :)

thanks guys look forward to your comments

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
