Never hungry then forcing eating

Recommended Posts

Hi all I wanted to see if anyone else had the same feeling that I do I find that I am never hungry and then I force myself to eat and feel nauseous and sometimes vomit. Does anybody else have this problem I don't know if it's because I never feel hungry and I'm forcing eating that I get this feeling or if there is something wrong. I am just about 8 weeks out and my wife is about 5 weeks out and eating much more than I am and having very little problems

How much and how fast are you eating before you vomit?

Very very normal to not desire food at this phase...it is an opportunity, but I want to hear your reply before wondering if you have an issue.

I recommend not comparing to others.....

I had to "remind" myself to eat in the first few months, its normal. I was rarely hungry and it was easy to skip meals. This actually contributed to some of my early weight stalls. I made myself eat every 2-3 hours and had small portions of a Protein food through out the day. I would eat an egg, a Protein Drink, yogurt, or maybe cheese or deli meats.. In the beginning, we eat very little, and our brains want a MEAL, though we are only capable of a small meal.

Try to eat smaller portions to avoid nausea. I have never vomited, but I had gotten uncomfortable if I accidentally ate too much. Do you weigh out your portions? This can help to identify your limits/ stomach capacity.Mine limit was 3 ozs at time in the beginning and is approx 5 ozs @ 9 months. Be sure to pace yourself also. Slow and steady.

If your portion sizes are are small and you still experience nausea, be sure to call your surgeon.

Weighing out or checking he vlume of what you eat can help determine quanity. At almost 4 weeks out, I can handle about 1/2 cup of food. It also depends how much of a slidder the food is. For example, yogurt I can eat a lot of, so I limit it to one serving a day.

I am seven weeks out today, and I was definitely right where you are a few weeks ago. It's hard to explain to people who have never experienced it, but because I never felt hungry it was really hard to tell when I was full. I went through days where I threw up almost everything I ate, because I was measuring out what I thought would be an appropriate portion (say 1/4 cup of something like refried Beans, or a tablespoon of something firmer, like scrambled egg), eating it really slowly, but not being able to tell when to stop. There were literally no signals of fullness until I started sliming. Once that happened, I had about a 1 in 3 shot of keeping it down.

Anyway, just in the past week or so, I have started to feel little signals like hunger coming from my stomach three or four hours after a meal. Along with those little hunger signals have come little full signals that happen several bites into my meal. If I really pay attention for them, and put my fork down when I get the first of the "full" signals, 9 times out of 10 now, I can keep a sliming episode from starting. Now I can eat almost 1/2 cup of wetter foods like Soup or chili, and maybe 1-2oz of denser Protein foods like fish. But I'm way more likely to end up sliming, and possibly vomiting after eating a denser food, even if I listen to the "full" signals.

I hope this helps you realize there is a light at the end of the tunnel... it does get easier!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
