A new bike seems to be a common reward on Bariatric Pal for staying on track and making the band work. I told myself that when I was 1/2 way to goal (50lbs), I would splurge on a new bike just for me. In the past, I have bought crappy old bikes with squeaky seats and loud breaks. Oh sure, I have spent good money to get my kid the bike he wants year over year, but for myself, not so much. Well this time I splurged on myself! I bought an Electra 7-Speed Cruiser. The base model comes without fenders, so I had them add white fenders to give it a retro feel. Of course I also bought a basket and the required bell to ring "Hello!".

Yesterday my friends and I went on an adventure on the train. We took the bikes on the train about an hour south from my house in So Cal and then rode around San Juan Capistrano. My bike was so luxurious! It made no squeaks, and rides smooth! Definitely a great moment to appreciate my weight loss and how far I have come. Here are the pics:

What goal rewards have you given yourself?

A bike sounds good, but I have a problem there. I bought a bike bout a year ago. After I fell off twice, I handed the receipt to my Son and told him to take that sucker back. Now I have my eyes on an aldult trike. I need alone time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
