Reddrobin 24 Posted June 22, 2014 Is it imperative to keep a food diary?

maxcimax 220 Posted June 22, 2014 Yes it is. I have made out much better writing down what I eat. I just write my intake in a small spiral notebook. I keep track of Protein grams, calories, carbs & portion size along with a description of the food. I can't tell you how much this has helped. No matter what you eat be sure to write it down. I discovered I wasn't getting my 800 calories in. That wasn't a good thing. If I'm short on Protein or calorie intake by the end of the day I eat something that will bring me up to the level I need to be at. Good luck. This is such a crazy & learning journey. I think, for me, this surgery was the right thing to do.
Reddrobin 24 Posted June 22, 2014 Thanks for the feedback. I started using my fitness pal today. I am not into diary writing so this will be a challenge for me but I can see its usefulness.
chris1142 148 Posted June 22, 2014 I use my fitness pal daily and record everything. That is one of the things that research says helps the most in having a successful long term outcome. Also if I think I'm not losing enough or fast enough I can show it to my NUT and get some advice on what changes, if any, I should make 1 jajmj reacted to this
