Dizzy and nauseous some days - 5 weeks out

Recommended Posts

Now that I am back to work and it is so busy some days I am finding that I don't get my Water in until I am home from work. Although I do get about 16oz in at work. However, lately I have been getting quite nauseous and dizzy/headachy by mid day. Could this be because I am not fully hydrated during the day? I know I need to figure out a way to make sure I drink all day long but it keeps slipping my mind.

I agree with you on the Water. Are you taking in enough Protein? My NUT recommends at least 60g per day for women.

She recommended I have min of 64oz of h2o, over and above any tea or milk that I have. When I was at home recovering it was really easy since I could schedule my intake and make sure it happened. Now I typically drink my Protein shake on my way to work and have a bottle of Water with me that hold approx 20oz of Water. I am trying to make sure I get that down by noon but since it's so crazy I am not always able to. Once I start falling behind next thing I know it's 2/3 pm and I am not feeling well and notice I've barely drank any water. By then it becomes even harder to drink, at least that is what I've been noticing. Yup I am eating my lunch usually 2oz of a solid Protein and a piece of broccoli or a brussel sprout or two. Just the water. I am on the phone and computer a lot and often in meetings. I have those contiguous water bottles to drink from but they make so much noise in meetings that I think that it's distributive. Any ideas on different water bottles maybe?

I feel like I should know how to make this work by now but it keeps occurring. What kind of methods do you use to keep you water intake I check through out the day?

I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I will. I have at least 2 more months in the process of getting approved. I would look in a place that sells high quality Protein powders. I went to http://www.theisopurecompany.com. They have a drop down list of places to buy Isopure. You may want to look at the websites for this list and see if they have Water bottles that make it easy to track how much water you're getting. There may be a store near you, or, if you're very busy, use mail order. I went to Wal-Mart and they had one; I believe it said BHA(?) free... something that leaches from the bottle to the water. Hope that helps!

As far as the bottle goes, it looked kind of small-- not sure it's worth the trip. I would look online. Amazon probably has a lot of them and you can read the reviews.

I have trouble getting my 64 oz of liquid each day too. I thought I would try the Isopur 20 oz flavored liquid. I found that it was disgusting & poured out the 3 bottles I bought. If you buy any of this stuff only buy 1 bottle to see if your taste buds will tolerate this drink. I am 5 weeks post op too & haven't had any issues with headaches or dizziness. Also, the best Protein powders I have found are made by Unjury & Syntrax Nectar. The nectar can be bought by single serving packages at The Vitamin Store or online. Also, I use soy milk to mix my Protein Powder in. My taste buds don't like it mixed with Water. Hope this helps.

I agree I bought Isopure and I bought two diff flavors omg DISGUSTING thee were $4 a pc and I believe 40 gm of protein...I would suggest GNC, bodybuilding.com or the Vitamin shop...the vitamin shop has all kinds of Protein Shakes that you can buy in bulk or single....of course you would want to try it in single first...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
