What Are Some Things You Can't Wait for POST OP?

Recommended Posts

Fun topic and I hope you don't mind a Vet chiming in.

I have become and avid kayak-er since losing weight and my next venture is inside skydiving....and maybe just maybe some day an actual plunge from a Plane. If President Bush can do it at 90 than why not me?

My long term reward for goal that I set back in 2011 was a week at Disney World. That is now booked for December 6th through 13th of this year.

Goals and rewards are excellent motivators and you know what else? We're all worth it!!

One of my goals is kayaking!! I can wait!:)

To not be embarrassed all the freaking time.

To not spend half my time in public worrying about getting up from the chair/couch/floor without making a scene.

To shop in "regular stores"

To take the stairs and not feel like I'm going to pass out after a single flight.

To fly without a seatbelt extender.

To save a ton on groceries and eating out (and put that towards new clothes ????)

To be happier!

I can't wait to put something other than a headshot as my Facebook profile photo.

I can't wait to take up just one seat on the bus.

I can't wait to go off my blood pressure medication.

I can't wait to be excited about my upcoming clinicals instead of nervous about whether or not I have the physical stamina to keep up with my classmates.

I can't wait to do yoga and fit in the poses again and actually have a body that can twist and bend without discomfort and do sun salutations without getting exhausted. Maybe I'll even become one of those people with a full-body yoga pose Facebook photo!

I can't wait to get to a 30# loss. Why? Because I've never lost 30# in my life. The best I've ever done is 20-something. Usually I don't focus overmuch on numbers of lbs, but that one is a mental milestone for me. And I've lost 14 so far, so I'm almost halfway there even before surgery.

1. I can't wait to actually run around and play with my little boy.

2. Maybe have another baby (god willing).

3. Fit in plane seats better or in a restaurant booth.

4. Dress better.

5. Just live.

All of the above and:

1. Be able to squeeze by people in a church pew without being humiliated

2. Be able to buy normal width shoes

3. Not be a glutton

4. Weigh less than my husband

5. Wish for something else when blowing out birthday candles or wishing on a star

6. Walk through turnstile full on

Oh my goodness j16 you mentioned something that I hadn't even thought of. For the past 2 years even shopping for shoes gives me major anxiety! My feet are always so swollen and it is hard to find shoes that will even fit! I am looking forward to a normal pair of shoes!!

I'm looking forward to weighing less than I did at my "skinny" weight. 159lbs

Weighing less than my husband

Taking family photos

Not being the fattest person in the room

Feeling comfortable around others

Not ashamed to meet up with old friends

Jeans. Hot, sexy blue jeans that look damn good!

Putting on a wetsuit without struggling or hiding in another room.

Being more graceful in general. Nimble, flexible.

Running again. And being able to lift my own body weight. Like the badass, strong woman I am inside!

Some things I'm looking forward to:

  • Being able to find clothes at local stores instead of having to order online.
  • Not feeling like someone is stabbing my knees when I try to walk upstairs.
  • Being able to sit on my husband's lap without worrying that I'll crush him. (He swears I won't but I'm terrified anyway).
  • Horseback riding.

Ride my bicycle to work. It is only 5.2 miles one way but it really is uphill both ways. Downhill to the river, uphill to the office. Downhill to the river, uphill home. As crazy as it sounds, I've always wanted to do a one handed push up and do a push up so fast that I can clap before putting my hands back down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
