Green Zone-How does yours feel?

Recommended Posts

I'm not confident I've reached it so soon, but I may be dancing at or near the Green Zone.

Those who are there, please describe how it feels over the course of a day.

I'm feeling almost Red in the morning (often I can only eat a bite or two of egg), and Green at lunch and dinner (can eat a whole salad or three chicken strips or two small meatballs and then feel a soft stop). But sometimes I feel Red at dinner (pork gets stuck). Yellow if I eat a sandwich (all bread goes down easily, so I really have to limit it).

My weight loss has been steady since my second fill three weeks ago (14 pounds). I average around 1000 calories a day. I never snack. I'm never hungry between my 3 meals.

It's almost too magical.

Is this my Green Zone? What does yours feel like?

Nearly the same and I'm fine with it. I'm sure I could be tighter but I don't want the stress of facing too many stuck/sliming episodes. I can usually eat Breakfast just fine and I don't want to rely on shakes for my meals.

I know I can lose faster if I bite the bullet and go for tighter, but I'm content to take my sweet time getting there just like it is.

Tmf, that's how I feel. This is almost perfect, so why mess with it? I have enough easy food to still require discipline, but enough tightness to not want to go tighter. I'm scared of going too tight.

I was thinking of returning to Protein shakes at Breakfast just to get that Protein in. My dog usually gets half or more of my egg.

For me, ALL hunger has been taken away, and when I do eat, I can only eat so much then I am finished....

It's hard to explain really....imagine a thanksgiving dinner where you ate so much you could not possibly eat another morsel...some one shows you the apple pie and you say "Take it away" I'm not interested...and there is no way I could take another bite/swallow of anything.....

For me, it is the exact same thing, only there is nothing physical about it..I never get that "Full" or "Stuffed" feeling, although the band is telling my brain I am...it's all mental.

I can go all day and that feeling is there, the mental aspect I do not need, nor want to eat...

And again, when I do eat...the band allows me to eat just so much, and then I'm finished....

Also, if I should happen to eat the wrong foods, or eat too much too fast...it would be disastrous....but that do\es not mean I am in the RED ZONED...it means I need to change my lifestyle, my habits, learn the lessons in order to have this thing work...

All too often I read where people think they're too tight, but in reality it is eating the old way, the way that made them fat in the first place....but they will go and get some Fluid taken out, then come back and complain that they're not loosing weight and the band is not working.....

It is a balance of many things one has to learn to be successful...when they told me the band will "Change your life"...they were not kidding...and I don't mean in terms of weight loss...I mean in terms of my personal eating habits, choices of foods, exercise, etc, etc....

Same here. I can eat pretty much what I want just have to move with caution with some things. I thought about a tweaking , but am worried about pushing limits. My wt loss has stalled but I'm right at goal, plus I don't follow a strict cal ct anymore. Sounds like you're there. As for pork, the worst stuck episode I've ever had was pork chops, so I haven't tried it since. Guess there is something I can't...or won't try to eat.

B52, did that sensation of no hunger happen early on or take months of time to develop at the green level? I still get somewhat hungry at mealtime, but not before. It is unusual though, not to care about food during the day. It's very liberating.

SandyM, pork was horrible. Twice. I'll miss it. But it's a small sacrifice to be at Green!

Being in the green zone for me means eating only when hungry. Eating 2-3 meals a day no Snacks. Sometimes I can't even eat a full meal just my meat and then I'll eat my veggies later. Everyday is different.

For me, rolling in my Green Zone is that feeling of satiety, serenity, release from food Jail. It is that signal that I am done when I am done. It is satisfaction hours after I have eaten. It is not feeling an urgent "need to feed" every time I turn around. It is the joy of forgetting about food in favor of other activities for hours at a time. It is never being stuck, never fighting with my band, never arguing with it. It is about working in harmony with my band to achieve my goals. It is a learning process. It is that delicious moment when my stomach has been growling like crazy and all of a sudden, my band communicates with my brain to shut it down and all is still. Calm. Quiet. And I just burst out laughing because for some reason, I find it hilarious.

That is a little of what my Green Zone feels like for me. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
