First month...down 31 lbs!

Recommended Posts

I am so happy to have my first month in and I am down 31 lbs. The Dr. was very pleased with my progress. It is getting easier to eat the Protein and I still enjoy a couple of Protein Drinks every day. I can actually say that every day gets easier.

The third week was a bit tough with very little weight loss, but I was told to expect that because they body is adjusting to the surgery and it often happens, but this fourth week I lost real good.

I just wish I felt like cooking. The smells still bother me and I hope in another week or two I will feel like it. For now hubby has gotten me a couple of fish meals out...grilled tilipia and salmon and some chicken from Boston Market. I divide it up into several meals. I had to freeze some tilipia because you can only eat it so many days in a row. This week I can eat a bit more so that is helping. I did manage to make one dish. My hubby browned up some ground turkey, I added a can of tomatoes and let it simmer for an hour and then added a can of kidney Beans and some chili powder for a chili dish. I froze a number of meals.

Congrats girls!!! Time sure is flying by. Isn't it nice to actually be on some good food finally? I'm finding the meats are going down better every day. My daughter made chicken enchiladas yesterday and I enjoyed the insides... shredded chicken, salsa, kidney Beans, and a pinch of low fat cheddar cheese. She sent me home with the left overs and froze some. I can't handle the same thing over and over. So many things I like my husband doesn't and I can't eat it four times in a row. I did that with some fish and finally and to freeze the rest.

At one month out are you finding your stomach can hold a little more? I seem to be getting the meat down easier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
