I had surgery on April 24th and I am now able to eat regular food with no problems. I am having a hard time with finding multi Vitamin that I can tolerate the taste I really would like to just swallow it and get it over with.... Is anyone able to handle pills? ??

There is a liquid multi vitamin at costco and it's pretty good. Kind of like a Gatorade flavor. It comes with a 30 day supply and a bottle for like 20 bucks.

Does the doctor write a prescription for the bariatric Vitamins or should I order some before surgery?

I just used children's chewables post-surgery (two daily, even though the directions are for one daily. He believes more is better) Flintstones are actually better tasting, but these were on sale =P

I hated Centrum chewables (that fake orange flavor...blech) I can't wait until I just swallow a pill...but I'm already swallowing Iron and b-complex, so I don't want to overburden my sleeve with non-chewables. Yet.

I take the Trader Joe's High Potency chewables and they taste fine - mild with a slight citrus tang. I can't handle swallowing big pills like multi-vitamins since my sleeve, though I know a fair number of people who can. It's an individual thing.

I had trouble with chewables. They just tasted too much like chalk. The horse pills weren't something I could handle even before surgery.

Last week someone told me about Gummy Vitamins. They are amazing and taste great. My only concern with them is the sugar content. 3 grams per serving, but I have to weigh that against not taking a Vitamin.

I could not handle any of the chewables. They were all too sweet for me. My nutritionist suggested I take Materna Vitamins. Yup the ones for when you are pregnant! They are not too large and go down easily. Much, much better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
