Hi everyone!! I had my surgery July 31st 2013. It had been a slooooooow go and I've lost about only about 30lbs so far. I did miss a few months of appointments though. I am finally back on track and went for another fill today, I currently only have 2.5cc so the band hasn't really started working for me 100% yet. It's been a struggle. Anyway I usually never have an issue when I get my fills but today the new PA found my port she felt it but couldn't get the needle in for the fill. I'm confused why this happened? After poking me for 30 min and 4 diff needles she gave up. I have to go tomorrow for a more experienced person to do it. Has anyone ever had this issue? I can understand if she couldn't find my port but she felt it just didn't know where to stick the needle.

Sounds like your port may have flipped from what I've read from others who have posted similar issues. Not sure how that's detected - X-ray, or what but I think the only fix is surgery. Hope is was more of a nurse issue and not a flipped port.

I never had any troubles with my port. I don't know what kind of things your PA had you do but if you lift your legs off the table and your head it makes your port stick up and out. if its flipped and a xray will confirm this I do believe its a outpatient type of surgery. you are a year from surgery. I think you should have more fill in your band. although 30 lbs isn't anything to cry about. Good job on that. hopefully tomorrow they will be able to do a fill and get you were you should be. good luck

Definitely sounds like a port flip it happened to me after being 5 months banded. It's an easy fix with a day surgery. I went in the early morning and was able to be discharged 6 hours later. No more problems with my port. I was banded 12/10/12 and my flipped port was fixed 5/10/13. So I have not had a single problem since then! Best of luck to you!

Teach8394 hoping it is just inexperience as well...keep us in the loop. I am so thankful my port in stitched in place in my upper left chest area...I can feel it all the time by just lifting my arm up in the air!!! Best wishes for your appointment today.

I can feel the port and so did the PA but she just kept hitting plastic when she tried to do the fill. Going to be seen at 12:30.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
