BEYOND FRUSTRATED - Wrong procedure code on approval letter

Recommended Posts

I have Aetna and it took forever to get approved. Approval finally came through verbally and I received the letter yesterday. The approval letter is for a band when I am getting the sleeve. I initially wanted the band but changed my mind half way through the process. Does this mean I need to resubmit? I am BEYOND frustrated. At first the insurance package wasn't submitted in full and now I am approved for the wrong procedure? I dont want to point fingers but I am super organized and had everything in order. This is also not my coordinator's first time at the rodeo so I'm not sure what the deal is.

Does anyones know if we are going to have to back to the approval drawing board? Waiting was SO stressful and involved additional letters -- if I have to do it again, I'm not sure my nerves can take it.

soooooo sorry this happened :(

i understand you must be/are upset/disappointed, MAD

"maybe" cuz you initially spoke of the lap band, the confusion/mistake happened by the office/insurance

doesn't really matter why it happened - its done and over with

mistakes do happen

that statement doesn't help you any

talk to the docs office/insurance "nicely"

i've learned that getting upset doesn't help the issue - even though THEY definitely screwed up!!!

as "they" say "you catch more flies with honey, than vinegar!!"

i "think" thats the right expression

you "probably" have to resubmit the paperwork, or docs office does :(

i can only imagine the stress/nerves you are experiencinge :(

hope things get smoothed out/taken care of

good luck :)

I completely understand your frustration! I just received my letter of approval from BCBS, and it is for the wrong procedure. Not sure who dropped the ball, but I hope it can get resolved quickly. I sent a letter to the insurance coordinator and copied in the doctor's nurse. Good luck to you and hopefully things will look brighter.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
