Want To Get Back On Track

Recommended Posts

CTRose,

WAY TO GO!!!! You are on your way, and doing it in such a healthy way both physically and psychologically. You can't lose 40 without first losing 5 and then 10! At the rate you are going you will be there before you know it! I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!

I have had a rough eating week. I was at a two day workshop for work and I made a couple bad choices. This weekend is my church's Festival and I made two cakes for the cake walk (and sampled the frosting) and will be working with food tonight and all day tomorrow. I was at my Turbo Kick class at the YMCA this morning though, so that is in my favor. My weight is creeping up to the higher end of my five pound maintenance range. Since I think today and tomorrow are going to be tough, I am just going to half to hit it really hard next week. Fortunately, next week should be good for getting back on track. I hope that with time my weight will not be as volital and that perhaps I can find a way to increase my metabolism. I am finding it very difficult to stick to a 900 - 1000 calorie diet!

Please keep posting about your journey. I am finding what you share to be so helpful and inspirational!

Carol

I'm just at 2 years out from surgery. I'm needing to get back on track. I've lost around 130 pounds and am hovering around the 200 pound mark. I'm making an effort to get back on track this week. I really want to be under 200 pounds and complete my weight loss goal of making it to 150. Sometimes, I get frustrated because I've lost a decent amount of weight, but I still feel really big. I just need to refocus on my goals and remember the motivation I had when I first had surgery. I don't want to take this for granted and I most definitely do not want to be back where I started! This forum is so inspiring. I know that success is possible if I just get out of my own way!

This weight loss process is lifelong. It's easy to give up when we feel the loss of control. Just remember that you still have your tool in place but we need to use it as intended. In the early days it was easier to be compliant because we would have nasty consequences if we didn't. That seems to diminish with time so it's harder keep those stringent guidelines. I struggle with making smart choices all day long. It's not one-day-at-a-time, it's one minute-at-a-time. For me, food will always be an addiction and I need to force myself to remember that I am the one responsible for what food I buy, what I make for my family and let's face it: it';s cheaper, easier, and more convienent to make junk vs. healthier foods. Support is important that's why I'm on this site. I'm gonna try today to go back to the basics: 89-90 gr. of Protein Shakes, 64 oz. Water, and at least 20 minutes exercise. I will try to focus and make this my goal for today. I'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Best wishes and don't give up. You're too important. You can regain control. Start in this moment. You're not alone!!

I love it! You've inspired me! Thanks for sharing!

Just wanted to thank everyone for all of your encouragement. I am going to try the 5 day pouch test and see what happens....today will be day 1. This whole weight loss process has been such a journey. If I was able to loss the weight in the beginning, I will be able to do it again. I plan on taking it one moment at a time. I will keep everyone updated as I know I will need more help. Truly wish I found this app sooner, but guess its better late then never. Thanks again!! :)

You can and will do it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
