Yippyia 1 Posted June 19, 2014 Am struggling with this. Surgeon says not to drink 30 mins before and 30after, but I can't stand it, food makes me so thirsty I have to have a sip or two. Plus it's in the 90's here already, Water is giving me trouble also, I can drink Protein but sipping water makes me nauseous for like a Minute until I burp. All I want is to quench my thirst. Will drinking a few sips while eating stretch my pouch?
MamaTracy711 0 Posted June 19, 2014 My aunt told me for her post surgery she would have a small price of melon and the juice in it would quell her thirst...hope that helps
butterflyinwaiting 12 Posted June 19, 2014 No it does this! I was so grateful someone showed me this. Now I make it my goal to never eat and drink together! 6 mtibodo2, ForeverFat?, NicoleSW and 3 others reacted to this
Marathongirl 106 Posted June 19, 2014 The way I got through it was to chew a piece of sugar free gum. It would satiate my mouth. Or, you could try and have some fruit with every meal. I remember when I couldn't drink that much Water too. It would make me feel full and sick (which is why they want you to drink a lot!) I hope you get the hang of it soon. I'm even telling my friends and family who are trying to lose weight that its probably best not to drink while eating.
esskay77 785 Posted June 19, 2014 This is really tough! I always drank a lot of Water (sometimes wine!) with my meals. If they didn't come along and refill my glass, I would freak out and feel like I was suffocating until I could drink something. I think now it was my body saying that I wasn't really hungry anymore. I'm noticing now if I think I need some Water with my meals, I'm really just done eating. I'm glad I watched that video. The doctors never tell you WHY so much as just not do something. I always like to know why. I don't have answers yet but just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone and it is a work in progress to perfect this! lol
Sparklingbeauty53 202 Posted June 19, 2014 So you could try this: eat, drink and be merry for one meal and see what it does. It isn't pretty and isn't a good feeling. It will change the way you look at eating and drinking though. New you, new rules and you must abide. I had a chicken dish that was spicy and without thinking I took a big drink of my husband's Water (gulp really-gut reflex) boy I was so so sorry. I had to rush to the ladies room and I threw up, out my nose and mouth and then for 30 minutes the hot spice burned my nostrils because it had come back up. Oh painful memory. I will never repeat that though. I have ice on hand to suck on if I get thristy. it helps.
