Ree 215 Posted June 19, 2014 Today is exactly 6 months since surgery. I had my 6 month follow up today too and it went well. My goal going into todays appointment was to be under 190lbs and today (according to their scale) I weighed in at 188. My scale is what I normally go by and I weighed in at 187, which I was thrilled with! The doctor also said I am considered a success because I had lost more than 50% of my excess body weight, which I didn't even realize. And she said that they consider the surgery a success if someone can lose at least 50% of their body weight within a year of having the surgery and I was able to do that in 6 months. Since starting this journey I have lost 88 pounds! and feeling great. 1 KQH reacted to this

odesa 90 Posted June 19, 2014 Congrats! I had my 3 month follow up last week and was told that 30% of excess weight loss at 3 months and 50% at 6 months was the norm so it seems fairly similiar/standard. My loss was at 33% so I had that same feel good feeling you have right now but I'm just 3 months behind ya!
livvsmum 2,369 Posted June 19, 2014 That is wonderful!! I am happy for you! My surgeon told me that too at my 6 month follow up. He said technically speaking I was considered a "successful surgery" since I lost a certain percentage. Even though I haven't yet reached my personal goal, he said anything past what I lost at the point was "a bonus" :-)
