So I just wanna know that it's normal to just have a bad day with the sleeve. I don't mean feeling wise but I mean rules wise. Today, I got busy and didn't plan and looked up and it was 3pm and all I had for the day was 5oz Greek yogurt and 12oz of Water that morning. Then I actually got hungry which hasn't happened since my surgery 8 days ago. So as soon as I got home I ate cream of chicken Soup with some milk mixed in. I ate it way too fast and too much (like the old days). Now I'm here and in pain(stuffed), knowing full and well I didn't follow the rules and I'm mad and frustrated. I'm upset I didn't take the time to plan better, I question my choice to have this done. What if I seriously hurt myself the next time I don't plan. I'm frustrated that I can't just gulp down water to catch back up. I know that I choose this I just need to know having bad days (aka "learning days") are normal. So when was your first bad day??

You're going to have bad days. I realized last night that I hadn't drank ANYTHING since I came home from work last night. It was almost 4 hours... Luckily I'd drank enough during the day to meet my 64 oz goal, but it still bothered me.

Do your best and move on. Tomorrow is a new day. This is a new hour... don't keep repeating the same mistakes.

How hard in beginning first few weeks is it really to get fluids and food down? Is it because swallon? Doesit hurt to swallow or just not much room to go down? Does it change in time get easier to drink and eat?

Hehe,

Oh yeah. I was use to eating at the speed of a NASCAR event and it took me three times having some type of food stuck in my esophogus (sp?) and having to dry heave to get it to dislodge and go into my sleeve before I learned to pay attention and slow it down. Now I eat like the grass grows and have well over half my food on my plate when my family finishes eating theirs LOL even though my portion is much smaller.

So you are not alone and neither it appears was I. I told my surgeon about it last week at my 3 month follow up and he just smiled and called it a learning moment on my own learning curve :)

It makes me feel better to hear of others learning experiences. This whole thing is a major change mentally and I'm still wrapping my head around it. Thank you for sharing!!

Im having trouble to getting the Water intake in. Dietician commented on my lips being far to dry. Im putting in all I can and will get better at it. I had a bad day the other day absolutely nothing stayed down. It eas awful, heartburn and indigestion the pitts. Surgeon wrote out a script today. Here's hoping a change is on its way. We are all still working things out and it's all very new. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
