I'm having band to sleeve revision in Nashville on Monday. How was the recovery?

I had recovered great, just have that band failure on my brain, like it may happen again. I feel good and have already lost 53 lbs since 4/21.

I'm just starting out. I have a seminar on July 15th with Dr. Rutledge. I'm wanting the sleeve. Hopefully everything will go quickly. Where did u have your surgery?

Sounds like you are doing great. I think failing this surgery is a big part of my fear right now. I keep telling myself that the band failed me. I couldn't live with the complications that having a fill brought on but it's still a failure in my mind.

I'm in East TN and having my surgery on 7/1. Let us know when you get your date and keep us posted on your journey. I just started my pre-op diet on Tuesday and I think I was more scared of it than the surgery (I just didn't think I could do it). It's actually not been too bad. I went ahead and prepped freezer meals for my husband and son before I had to start the pre-op so I wouldn't feel like I had to cook anything I couldn't eat!!! LOL! I'm sure that has helped. :)

I have been freezing meals for my husband too. I have been focused on getting things ready in my house so after surgery I only have to think about a safe and quick recovery.

If you go to Mexico to have the surgery, most of the time that's out of pocket correct?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
