There's One called the Bari bowl by a company called Bariware.. If u type it in google you'll find it. It's portioned out in 1 oz sections & comes w/ a spoon and fork. Or you could also try a Bento box I know a lot of sleevers who use them. Also a great tip for future meals.. check out The world According to eggface. . Her blog is awesome!

Keep your life simple. When you go to work you can live on 1 shake, Water, and maybe a yogurt, or 1/2 to 1 boiled egg, if you need it for awhile. I have cases of shakes I overbought, dozens of Soups I stocked up on, etc. etc. Your tastes will change, eating is so simple. Never heard of the boxes. My panty is stuffed with things I thought I might need. Good luck!

Darby, we were all nervous here, I can tell you! My husband has so many health problems I was TERRIFIED but I felt we would die from the asthma, HBP, diabetes, heart problem, sleep apnea, neuropathy (not counting all the medicines we were taking for all these problems), if we did not have the sleeve. So there was fear either way. This is the best decision we ever made for ourselves and our health and we are looking and feeling great. Never even felt like I had surgery (I thought they pretended lol). It was 10 times easier than anticipated. Relax and go for it! Linda

Hi,

My baby boy (6th bio and 7th overall and LAST child of mine now) was born 2 weeks ago today. If your like me you'll want to be around a long time to watch the 3 year old grow old. The WLS for me was one of my better decisions in my entire life. I've lost 72 pounds in 3 months which was impossible in the last 23 years for me and I was nervous too so your emotional state is not unusual.

Think of the benefits and use your tool wisely and hang in there, that is what this forum is for, that and for apperantly stuffing one's panties with all kinds of things hehe :)

I'm on my 2 week pre-op diet now, and my 3yo boy is my motivation for this surgery and for following doctors orders! I want to be the healthiest mom I can be. I want to be an active participant in his life and day-to-day activities, and not just an overtired lump on the sidelines.

My dad had this surgery a year ago, and my baby boy was his motivation too. He lost over 100 lbs and has regained his life! He carries my baby on his shoulders now, and doesn't huff & puff when playing or working in the yard anymore. This surgery is a life-changer and I'm anxious to change my life! Good luck to you on your journey.

Ellen Degenerous would love to hear about the panty mishap! She uses stuff like that on her show.

As for the bari-boxes, I got one and haven't used it once in six months......or the measured smaller plate, or the place mat. I have used the shaker bottle almost evert day, and I used the small baby spoons for a long time, just to eat smaller bites. One thing I did use at the hospital was my Bari-Buddy Teddy Bear. Some hospitals provide them. Mine did not, so I ordered one. It was not cheap, but well worth the money. It is a good size and has a hard and flat back. It makes a good splint for when you cough or laugh. I also used it for an arm rest and a phone rest. I suppose any good size teddy bear or stuffed animal would do in a pinch. I ordered most of my bariatric kitchen and pantry stuff from BariatricChoice.com and bariatricpantry.com. I ordered way too much stuff. I will be eating and drinking it for a couple of years.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
