Just had a fill--can I eat too much?

Recommended Posts

I just had a fill done three days ago. Today, the first day I have eaten solids, I feel like maybe I can eat too much? I'm not sure.

Breakfast I had about one cup of oatmeal--no problem.

For lunch I had two cups of rice with asparagus.

For dinner I had one cup of rice with about one cup of chicken with sauce.

In other words, I can eat two cups of food in one sitting--am I supposed to be able to eat that much?

All in all it's not that much food but should I go back and get my band a little tighter?

I'd love some feedback.

Thanks!

Well, i just had my first fill so I can't say for sure, but I was told to eat not much more than 3/4 c at meals.

And I'm jealous you can eat rice lol :) I haven't had the nerve to try it, but i miss it bad!

I may be eating a tiny bit less than before my fill. Before my fill, though, I could eat up to three pieces of pizza in one sitting (not good). I don't have the nerve to try that now, I don't think I could do that now anyway.

I feel like I could be tighter, but am worried even if I'm a little tighter, what if that makes it so it's very difficult to eat (i.e. chicken)? I know the horror stories, I don't want to put myself in a corner where all I can eat is Soup and tortilla chips, you know?

If you feel you could be tighter, but find you are too tight, an unfill at that point is always an option.

But, at the same time, you are eating very solid foods, feel full for at least a few hours after, and are losing weight at your current fill, how much you are eating really is not a problem.

Ive noticed the same thing. It really feels like I could eat alot more if I wanted to, but i dont because I refuse to gain weight anymore! I feel like Im almost starving myself. I feel hungry alot of the day, but I wont let myself binge. I hope things change when I get my second fill. Because ive not yet felt the feeling of being full, and I guess more importantly I want these terrible hunger pains to go away. I have lost 30 pounds in just six week but hell i feel like i could of done this all by myself.

Hi Angela,

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. You may feel that you are a slow loser but 25 lbs is still impressive. Think of 25 1lb pkgs of butter lined up. It's quite a bit!

I can't really comment on your fill level, but I notice from your sample menu that you didn't have a lot of Protein on that particular day. You should be aiming for at least 60 grams per day. I find the Protein fills me up so I try to eat all my protein first, then my vegetables and then my starch if I'm still hungry. Good Luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
