I am pre op but my facilitator told me I would be very fatigued. She said if I even walk around the block it will tire me out. I think its probably normal. If you are worried you should call the doc and maybe get some blood tests. Always better to be safe than sorry.

It will get better...it doesn't say when you had your surgery...I assume it was recently...

I say this all the time...however....what you have to remember is that you just had MAJOR surgery...even tho you just have a few scars on the outside, your insides like like Frankenstein's monster!!!

Be sure to stay hydrated, take your Vitamins, especially B12...and RELAX... your body needs time to heal...you'll be better than ever soon! Honest! ;)

My MD also said it may only last a couple of weeks or it may last up to 2 months. Everyone is different, and your body is still trying to adjust. It is totally normal and it will pass. Mine lasted about 2 wks, and the therapist they sent me to for my pre-surgery psych eval also had this surgery said hers lasted 2 months. Of course everyone is different.

I'm at 5 weeks out. Some days, I have a ton of energy. Most days, it's all I can do to get at least 1/2 an hour of exercise in. And I've been taking a little nap daily. The doctor said energy levels will return, and be patient. Yes, I wish I could walk and cycle as much as I had pre-surgery, but I know my body's not done healing (and believe me, I can tell when I overdo it)

Those days when I'm full of energy? There doesn't seem to be enough work needing done around the house to keep me busy.

Unhappysleever...

I'm 4 1/2 months po and I also get those days. Some days I have tons of energy, others not so much and I end up taking a small nap. I have noticed when I get closer to time for my next appointment with my Dr my energy levels are usually low, but I think that's because it's almost time for my B 12 shot.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
