I miss food as well. Really was hoping that I would not have so many cravings but I do all the time. I can't really say that I get very hungry but it is like I just miss being able to eat anything I want. Plus I think it is harder because I am home all day with my kids and am around food all day. I was thinking about taking the whole month off of work but am wondering if it would be better for me to go back to work next week. I have my 2 week post op appt tomorrow and am going to ask about the cravings. Might need to see someone to try and help me with the food addiction part.

I'm home all day every day with my toddlers. I think after I lose enough to where my back doesn't hurt anymore, I'm going to get a part-time job. I too am around food all day long.

I guess I'm cheating a bit because I will eat fries if I want but only cause I can only eat about 4-5...so I say splurge but I'm no doc! Lol

I notice I have no food restrictions, just portions. I can only eat a lil bit so I get as much Protein as possible with fun foods.

I workout and lose consistently these days but I'm only 3 months out and 51 lbs down so we will see what happens....good luck all!

I was the same way but once you are back to solid foods you will be surprised how quickly foods make you feel full.

Had my surgery on Saturday 14th June the first two days didn't think about food at all. Now that I am home I am thinking and can't wait for these liquid and soft puréed food to be over so I can eat normally. But if before the surgery I was doing a diet I would break it and eat. at least the surgery is not letting me do that!

Currently am on just liquids and don't get hungry but just crave what ppl around me are eating... Is that happening with anyone else?

Yes I am...I want food! I'm 2 wks out...having a difficult period right now nut working thru it...ur definitely not alone..:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
