Well I am ending my sixth day of a fifteen day liquid pre-op diet and so far ok. I surprisingly have discovered that I am not starving but that my eyes are hungry. Grocery shopping Saturday was not really a smart thing to do since I know how good things taste but I got through it. I am turning my head and eyes on food commercials and working on staying positive. I came home after work today thinking I was hungry (normal routine is to come in and have a ice cold coke and a couple chips) so I ran in, drank some crystal light and then weighed. I am down 7lbs in six days. That results changed my mind on thinking I was hungry. Yippee!! Its a shake for dinner and 8 more days to go. I CAN DO THIS!!!

Staying distracted helps a lot, closed the pantry door and drinking a lot. I may get to the point of just closing my eye:) -_-

Thanks for being my support- it is great to be able to tell someone who understands.

Connie -D day the 27th..

Way to go -- you're doing great! It will all be worth it. I was so glad to drop weight that I knew for once would not be coming back. Here's to that!

Well, my day is coming, Friday the 27th. I am excited to be finally taking the next step but still read all these issues that people are having and pray that I avoid them. My doctor told me that I will not have much pain yet others in the forum say they have major pains. I truly hope not. Hiccups, choking, all kinds of other problems. I don't want to be sick or have the issues just good results and a healthier life.

I am focusing on the positive, those that are happy with this decision and the outcomes. I figure I have made it through the first challenge, hopefully I make it through the rest.

This has to be a positive move for me so I hope all the challenges are not so difficult.

Hi! I had my surgery yesterday and I'm still in the hosp. It's def everything I expected it to be. This forum prepared me for a lot and told me thngs I didn't expect. The only major pain is the annoying shoulder pain from gas. Some abdominal soreness but very minor u will only notice it when sitting up. Other than tht everything has been smooth sailing. U will so great don't worry.

You will be fine you have a great at tourer and follow doctors orders . I was banded July 1 2013 best decision ever . The first week was rough nothing major but just the fact I had surgery and thought it was like a haircut and I could go back to my full hetic schedule my body said no. Only pain was the dam shoulder pain from gas and I was a little more tired then burn so one week Out felt fine. The results are awesome so a little gas is worth becoming 1/2 my size through the band good food choices most if the tine and working out. This forum is awesome place to be . Especially in times if my doubt or struggling sometimes nothing to do with the band I just pop on and read away. For the most part everyone is great !!!

Everyone is different. But what I can tel you is, if you have a smooth, easy procedure, you shouldn't have too much post op pain/discomfort. Mine was very minimal. I didn't even crack open the bottle of prescription pan meds I had to fill before my surgery. All I experienced was discomfort that I alleviated with walking and moving around. Seriously, just not letting myself stiffen up was the best medicine, post Lap Band surgery! I did have left shoulder pain because hernia repair, it bugged me more than I thought it would, a heating pad and a little liquid children's Motrin helped to knock it down, as did gentle rotation exercises.

For me, fatigue was the biggest factor. For the first three days, I. just. wanted. to. sleep. I would get up, move and walk, do a little very light housework, drink my clear liquid nourishment, use the bathroom, take care of my incisions, what have you, then cuddle back into my recliner, watch a little tube, read a little and crash out. Gone. Wake up, rinse and repeat. Did that for three days. On day four, all of a sudden, I was feeling great. Full of energy, ready to hit the ground running. I just had to listen to my body, give it want it wanted. And what it wanted was movement and sleep to help it heal.

Anyway, don't let what you read about post surgical feels scare you. Put it out of your mind, be prepared to experience your own and deal as it comes and you will be just fine! :D

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
