This Friday will be 4 weeks sleeved. A week ago today I had my gallbladder out. I am so exhausted all the time. Just showering, fixing my hair, and putting on makeup wears me out enough that I could easily take a nap. When I walk I get winded, and I'm dizzy. I really think that I am anemic. Has anyone else had problems with anemia? If so how did your surgeon treat it?

You may be dehydrated...make sure you are keeping up with your Fluid intake. Also make sure you take your Vitamins, especially B12

The other thing is that your body has had TWO major surgeries within a month, so it needs time to recover...i.e. rest/sleep.... even tho you just have a few small scars on the outside, you have major healing going on on the inside...so give yourself time to heal.

If you are truly concerned about this, of course, contact your doctor....

On top of BGP great suggestions, get your Iron (ferrous sulfate) however you can. Find them in chews or liquid form. Repeat always take your supplements, especially Daily Multi's / Iron / B-12 and get plenty of Water. Minimum 64 oz per day. If you are especially concerned it wouldn't hurt to call your surgeon. Good luck!

I have an appointment with him tomorrow I hate to bring stuff up because he likes to admit me since I love 3 hours from him. I know he does it to make sure but I can't keep living in the hospital! Either way I'll tell him about it maybe I just need to do b-12 injections instead of my sublingual pills. I think some of it is being hard on myself, I did so great after my sleeve I was expecting this go around to be similar.... But it hasn't :/

Hi..I was reading your post and I had a similar experience. My doctor admonished me to get my Protein in 60-80 grams a day advising I would be tired beyond compare if I don't. I was drinking less than 40 grams a day. I ordered unflavored protein whey isolate ( it's supposed to be a finer consistency) so I can add it to anything..yogurt...drinks and food I cook...I learned that from another person who had gastric bypass and my nutritionist. Protein is essential ..I'm doing better...and I wish you the best during your recovery.

Hello? You had surgery four weeks ago, and again one week ago...why the blazes WOULDN'T you be exhausted?? It's your body's way of taking care of itself and garnering it's strength for healing. Let it do it's job. Consume all your Protein, take your Vitamins, get some liquid Iron (seriously works - i'm anemic too!) and take walks, but really--REST!

That's my two cents worth anyway. I think we figure we should be all healed up when we get released from the hospital, but it does take time. You'll get there. Absolutely!

Sorry it's been so long since I posted! He prescribes weekly b-12 injections and I got another round of "protein, Protein, protein" :) I am feeling so much better now and I have so much energy!!! Thanks you all for the suggestions and y'all are right. I think I was expecting to bounce back after my gallbladder surgery like I did with my sleeve

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
