You should probably review with your surgeon, at 4 weeks you may still get tired easily... but you probably do that already, if you are like me... so as long as your friends don't mind a break now and again for you to recoup, I would think you are ok... I went to New York about 3 months after surgery, and there was a lot of walking (I needed to use a cane because of my RA)... I was able to walk so much better, but at the end of the day, I was exhausted beyond words...

Depending on your activities, your doctor can advise, because you are still healing...

good luck and have fun!

Thanks for your information.. I did talk to my surgeon.. He said he thinks I will do fantastic.. I'm 6ft tall and 125 pounds over weight.. I do really good on walking now.. My lower back aches and my knees will hurt.. But other than that and going up hills, I do very well.. I just hate the thought of postponing surgery, seems I'm always postponing weight loss..

I've never blogged before so I thought it would be a perfect time to ask some other people about their experiences

Thanks again...

I went on vacation at 5 weeks post op. Just went to the lake, but still went shopping, went for walks, and had a huge hill to climb getting from the lake to the house. No issues besides food choices, since I was still trying to get used to the right portion sizes and figuring out what to eat. But that's a battle whether you are home or away! No regrets with taking a vacation.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
