Butter Britches 2 Posted June 16, 2014 I've struggled with getting enough fluids and Protein since my surgery on 3/19. The dehydration has gotten bad and now I'm sick to top it off. I can only take sips at a time because it hurts to swallow, my lips and tongue feel stuck together, my urine is dark yellow and not often. Is it time to break down and get iv fluids? Does it give you a drastic boost? I feel like garbage!
mentalistfan 189 Posted June 16, 2014 You definitely need to get the fluids...I'm not sure about the boost but you should feel better, God Bless!!!
#9grammy 274 Posted June 16, 2014 Yes you need to call your PCP and let him know what is going on. He will make decision or just go to ER. You need to get fluids in you.
momohime 121 Posted June 16, 2014 If you're sick anyway, IV fluids probably aren't going to make you want to run out and Celebrate.. but they should make you feel a bit better. It's not an instant fix, they'll probably be given over the course of a few hours or so. Sometimes you feel crappy enough that you just know you need to go, no matter what they do or how long it'll take. Other times, it's not so clear. In those cases, it never hurts to call your MD and ask their opinion. I think that would be a good idea under the circumstances. Or if there's an urgent care around you that you could go to, that might be a good option too. Good luck and feel better!
Butter Britches 2 Posted June 16, 2014 Thanks all! I went to urgent care this morning and they moved ahead with the fluids. Though I wasn't as bad off as I felt, they didn't want me to get worse. Always trust your gut I guess!
