Susan58 10 Posted June 16, 2014 I am four weeks post op and was doing great. no problems at all and then starting 2 days ago I started really having gas pains really bad in my chest area. it hurts to even drink Water. it feels like when you take a big drink of coke and get that pain before it goes on down. I went back to just liquids today to see if maybe it was just irritated. has anyone else had this problem ---- and any advise before I call the doctor tomorrow. B-52 7,113 Posted June 16, 2014 I started out to explain what post-op gas pains actually are, until I saw you were experiencing them after drinking Coke 4 weeks after surgery....now I'm not sure what you are experiencing....
Susan58 10 Posted June 16, 2014 no... i am not drinking coke, i said it feels like when you take a swallow of coke too fast and you have that pain for a second or two. i had already experienced all the post op gas pains and was done with it. i felt really good, except still a little tired feeling. this just started 3 days ago. if feels like i need to burp but i can't. terrydumont46 1,954 Posted June 16, 2014 this is where we say "call your doctor". it could still be gas pain. but I think this is seriously a doctor call. I don't have chest pain caused by food anymore. if something is stuck or I ate to much the pain is more sternum, jaw and my gums funny enough. but not chest pain. we do have the vagus nerve running from stomach to shoulder, perhaps. my doctor told me to check my pulse if I ever have a question about that. if the vagus nerve is stimulated it causes the heart rate to decrease. so call your doctor a ekg might be the right test just to make sure everything is okay.
