Nut4bears9 1 Posted June 15, 2014 I went to my Bariatric Surgeon and left feeling discouraged. I have had IBS for a number of years, but have it under control now. He said that after surgery it will probably be worse. Did any of you with the Gastric Sleeve experience that? http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?center=44.082449,-123.328223&zoom=14&markers=44.082449,-123.328223&size=400x300&sensor=true 1 getnhealthyintx reacted to this

lornadoone629 31 Posted June 16, 2014 I have had IBS for over 30 years. Mine was diahrrea based (not constipation), so not good. Anyway, since preparing for the surgery and eating healthier, I haven't had many problems at all. In fact, since my surgery in August, I haven't had any IBS issues at all that I know of. I did have some issues with Protein right after surgery and sending me on emergency RUNS to the rest room, but my body adjusted after a couple of weeks. I actually think my condition improved. Haven't had to take any of my meds for it in a long time. good luck!

Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted June 17, 2014 Actually after the surgery about 2 1/2 years ago, I have no episodes of IBS now. It is such a relief not to have to know where the bathroom is....
KBCollier 3 Posted June 17, 2014 I had bad IBS before surgery and had to take medication for it every day. After surgery I MAY have a bout once every 3 months but don't even need to take medication for it. I feel 100% better.
