The scale is no longer motivating

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd be way more excited to see 199 on the scale, but to be quite honest I just looked at it and went "Oh, ok. " I used to get excited or feel motivated when I went down a few pounds on previous WL attempts, but this time is different somehow. Mind you, you'd think I'd be jumping for joy considering 8 months ago I was 315 pounds and this is the lightest I've been in 12 years.

Anyone else not really excited as others to see 199?

Including the pre-op diet, I've been losing for about a month now, so we're at different points in the process, but already to a certain extent I'd agree with you. It's not that I'm not happy to see the scale move, but I also feel secure enough in the process, that even though I'm losing more slowly than other people, I'm not discouraged. The flip side of that is that when the scale does move, it's nice, but not a big deal. Just part of the big picture.

Yeah, I think that giddy high of watching the scale plummet does kind of lose it's thrill, especially as it slows down. I'm over 9 months out and I only weigh myself once every few weeks or so. I focus much more on how I look, feel and how my clothes fit. I'm not as wowed to see I'm down a pound or so, but I am thrilled when I can wriggle into a smaller dress size or I feel much lighter on my feet when I run

I can totally relate to not stressing at what the scale says. I'm 5months out and have lost 74 lbs since the start of my journey (54 since surgery, 20 prior) As soon as I was weighed 2 weeks after surgery I was so excited getting on the scale it was like 24 lbs down. Then the weight still came off, the following months another 10 etc. This past month and a 1/2 the scale went down about 1/2 to 1 lbs per week. At first I was really upset. But then I realized I am 4 sizes smaller in clothes, have more energy then ever. I am the weight I was before I had my kids 15 years ago - so I really had to realize it';s just a number. We all need to really concentrate on how far we've come and the journey is still going on. So good luck to everyone!
