I decided last night to start my list of clothing to take on my cruise next month and when I was done, it was pretty long. I looked at it again but thought I would use most everything on it and didn't know what to remove. So I decided to see what would fit and what wouldn't in my suitcase. Well guess what? Everything fit. At first I couldn't figure out why because I recall clearly in years past that packing was often a challenge in terms of being able to fit everything and then it hit me... Everything fit because my clothes are so much smaller now.

I've been aware of this on some level for a while now especially when I put my bathing suit into the spin dryer at the Y. It used to be so difficult to get the suit in there without some of it getting caught and maybe tearing. These days, I can fit two of my suits in that little space because there's so much more room now.

So...as I sat there looking at my full, but easily closed suitcase, I decided I'm going to bring everything and I'll wear it all....even if I have to change outfits two or three times in a day to do it... :P

I know!! I had to pack lightly for Italy because I knew I'd be helping to carry my daughter's luggage from her semester abroad as well. So I left my hot rollers home. Everything fit so easily. I thought no way did the hot rollers take up that much room!! I've only gone down a couple of sizes so far, but yes, everything is smaller. I notice it in the laundry each week as well. Great post!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
