I'm doing ok. I think I underestimated the post op discomfort and how immobile I'd be. I'm not used to being still and having people have to help me do everything, so that's an adjustment. I guess I was just excited and ready for the drastic weight loss part and looked right past the recovery phase lol

My surgeon is Dr. Richards also. So happy to hear from someone who has the same surgeon. Do you go to the support groups? I am glad to hear that your surgery went well.

I went to one (the required "one"). I didn't love it, but I also don't want to assume that they would all be the same. I may try another sometime.this month. Have you been to one?

I went to the required "one" also. I hated it. I was looking for a way to get out. Then I heard that Dr. Walfish has going to be at the next one, so I went. Did you see him? It was a really good meeting. After that one, I was hooked. I've been several other times. You should give it another chance. I feel not so alone after going to one. Maybe I will see you there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
