I'm just starting my 6 month preop program and I've been wondering something.......

After surgery when you're on the restricted diet, and then long term with eating healthier, has anyone noticed a significant change in skin quality? I am currently waging a war with blackheads going on about 20 years now (I'm 29). When I have dieted in the past, I've noticed my skin is much healthier looking. Vibrant actually. Can I expect the same results after the surgery?

Total opposite for me. I never, ever had any acne as a youth or adult...EVER!!! I was sleeved on April 8. I woke up the morning of May 25 with about 6 little whitehead pimples on my forehead. Now everyday since then I wake up with 2-3 fresh pimples EVERY MORNING! Now I have pimples and acne scars all over my face. I'm pretty certain, it is surgery related which is weird because I don't eat the same garbage I used to.

I never had any huge acne problems until after surgery. The doctor said it was not related to the surgery. Maybe not from the surgery itself but the change in diet and exercise, hormones, stress, etc., I had the worse acne i'd ever had about a month after surgery. My advice is, After working out and sweating, wash your face with antibacterial soap or a cleanser that has benzoid peroxide in it. Also, if you are taking Biotin, lower your dose. I was taking 5000iu a day. I've halved that to 2,500iu. My face is much better. I always make sure to take the time to wash my face after a workout or if my skin just feels oily. I'm 15 weeks out Monday.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
