Drummergirl505 7 Posted June 14, 2014 The gas pains are really bothering me too. I had surgery 4 days ago and I keep praying to burp. It's kinda funny the things we hope for isn't it? The incision sites hurt some but the gas is the biggest discomfort for me. Hope everyone's gas passes! It is not comfortable.
HilaryInRC 116 Posted June 15, 2014 I had surgery on the 9th. I found that on day 3 the gas started and it hasn't stopped! Walking helps get the gas out for me. Good luck! 1 Drummergirl505 reacted to this
larcd 4 Posted June 15, 2014 I had surgery on the 9th. It's the 15th and teh gas, buring, yawning, and couphing are all back. It IS suprising what you miss. The day after the surgery, I told someone that all I wanted to do was pass gas. When I could, I really felt better. I walk as much as I can, even around the room at home if that's what it takes. 2 Drummergirl505 and Writerjennifer reacted to this
Drummergirl505 7 Posted June 16, 2014 I am just miserable ! It has been 5 days since the surgery and today has been awful. I can barely force myself to drink anything and the pain in my back and shoulder are just out of control. I have been walking but it does not seem to help. Maybe the pain is not just gas but something more? Any suggestions to help me out?

Maybe the pain is not just gas but something more? Any suggestions to help me out? Hi Drummergirl, Don't panic too much your pain is much like what I experienced five days out. I called my doc and he had me come in the next day for an examination to see if the back pain was surgery related. He found that I was healing well but the gas had somehow moved to my back and was causing pain there. He suggested that I continue walking and apply either hot or cold to my back to help move the gas. I know this sounds crazy pain moving from the stomach to the back, but he said it's not unusual after this surgery. I didn't do hot or cold I just used extra strength Tylenol for the pain and kept walking. The pain went away a day or two later. I'm 7 weeks post op now and I don't have any pain now so hang in there it gets better. Call your doctor just to let him know about your pain there could be something else going on. 1 Drummergirl505 reacted to this
butterflyinwaiting 12 Posted June 16, 2014 That first week was rough, I'm not gonna lie. I asked myself what I was doing a thousand times. The pain goes away, your energy returns and the food and eating get better. You just have to take it one day at a time and remember why you wanted this. And use a heating pad! 4 PrettyFatGirl, Drummergirl505, mtibodo2 and 1 other reacted to this
Drummergirl505 7 Posted June 16, 2014 Thanks ladies! I will call my doctor and keep walking. I also will keep up with the ice pack and try a heating pad. I need to not let the pain get me down and focus on the positives I will get out of this. Here's to another, better day! 2 latido and Writerjennifer reacted to this
Ginger Snaps 1,323 Posted June 18, 2014 @@Drummergirl505 Please call your doctor and ask! I had gas pain the first 4-5 days but it got to where it hurt to breathe deep because there was so much pressure in my chest. He sent me to the ER and turns out I had pneumonia. Chest pain or shortness of breath is also a symptom of a blood clot in the lung. I kept thinking mine was just gas pressure but it was more. Ended up in the hospital on IV antibiotics over the weekend and feeling a lot better now. 1 Drummergirl505 reacted to this

I had surgery on the 16th and am doing ok but my stomach area just feels heavy and bloated maybe. Pain level is bearable. This morning I started with a heating pad and it worked wonders and let me rest comfortably.
Drummergirl505 7 Posted June 19, 2014 I decided to follow your advice and go to the doctor. Actually I was really dehydrated and needed two bags of IV Fluid just to get a urine sample! They did check my lungs and luckily no pneumonia or blood clot. I am continuing to use the heating pad and making sure I take tylenol. Thanks ladies! 1 Crosby reacted to this
