sleep study at home

Recommended Posts

Had my pre op sleep study at home last night!!! It was horrible I woke up 3x without the nose things in and woke up a 4th time to myself ripping everything off!!! I can't sleep with anything on me! I hope this doesn't screw things up!!! I sleep fine I know I have no issues but I don't think the doctor believes me!!

try, if you can, not to be resistant to the test. i thought i slept fine too, until i had a sleep study (done in the hospital) and found i had severe obstructive apnea. i had a lot of trouble getting used to the cpap, and a friend who successfully used one told me not to give up and to try different style masks. i could not use the one with the nose thingees, i finally settled on one that covers my whole nose and it's very comfortable. i can't sleep without it now.

i'm not saying that you DO have sleep apnea, just saying that IF you do, there are many options when it comes to masks, and with patience and a little time you will find the one most comfy for you.

good luck!

I did mine at home. They told me that they really don't need much time on there....and not to worry about waking up with it out of my nose. I don't remember exactly how much time she said they needed I think she said they really only needed like an hour or less of deep sleep with it on..and it could and would be spliced together if need be.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
