Fatty deposit lumps under skin

Recommended Posts

Hello. For years I have noticed several lumps on my arms. When I asked my doctor she states they are harmless and just hard fatty deposits. Recently these lumps appear larger and I'm now founding them all over my body. Has anyone else experienced this? Do they shrink when you lose weight? My surgery is July 24 and they are noticeably easy to see now with all my fat. I'm worried when I start losing I'm going to look like I have internal mumps or something!

I have them in my legs and they go away/get smaller when I lose weight. I noticed they were gone when I lost about 40 pounds a few years back. Of course they are back now.

They are called lypomas...fatty deposits. I've had them all over for years - thin or heavier. I actually had some of them surgically removed because they got so tender. Am Considering having some removed again. Going to wait and see which ones look the biggest and hurt the most lol. I was told they can be somewhat hereditary - my mother has them as well. Harmless, but annoying!

I had one size of a football on my spine...had never noticed it till a surgeon showed my hubs...needles to say it got removed...I also ended up with one big one on side of right breast we thought for sure it was cancer but it wasn't but it also got removed it ended up being Calcium deposit,

How do they remove them? Can it be done in a doctor office or is it a surgery?

Thanks

Its a surgery but it was wasn't a bad one. I had seven of them removed at once.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
