They have an egg white Protein at GNC and plant based Protein Shakes at the Vitamin shop. Not everyone loses their hair. Take extra Biotin and Futurebiotics Super Silica Complex it will help you maintain your hair along with protein and the bariatric vitamin. BariTrack has great Vitamins and shakes too.

I was the same way after surgery. I tried so many Protein Shakes and wasted so much money. We finally figured out that I had become lactose intolerant after surgery. The syntax nectar is the only Protein Shake that I can use and not be sick. I love the Roadside Lemonade, fussy navel, and Cappuccino. This is the site I buy mine from. https://www.bariatricchoice.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/113961/

The packets are pretty good. You can put them on salads or mix them in a bake for chicken or turkey or whatever. The berry ones are REALLY good in applesauce and salads. Gives a nice kick. Apples, sprinkle the vanilla on as part of sauce. YUM!!!

chocolate and strawberries are also an interesting combo.

You're going to lose hair. Drinking Protein shakes won't stop that, don't let that NUT frighten you into harming yourself. If your body doesn't like the shakes you're drinking, keep sampling till you find one that works well with you. Right out of surgery there's no way to eat enough Protein to satisfy your daily needs. You NEED the protein, so find a way to get it in... Isopure or protein bullets are another option.

You can also take Biotin and hair, skin, nails Vitamins but HONESTLY... you're going to lose hair. Guaranteed. You may be able to SLOW the loss or prod your hair to grow more to replace what you're going to lose, but drinking shakes and taking pills won't stop Hair loss. You won't be bald and really a lot of people won't notice. The number of people that complain about losing a lot of hair still have full heads of hair to me.

Hi I am not sure buy how long since surgery? Hope you feel better

I have spent lots of $$ on various different Protein Shakes, all of which make me nauseous. I am sitting here feeling the after effects of one, broke out in the usual sweat feeling horrible. I was lectured by the nutrionist today that if I dont drink 3 Protein shakes per day, I will lose my muscle, become weak, and lose my hair. I am eating pureed chicken and other protein no problem. But she tells me my stomach cannot absorb the protein in food right now so protein shakes are my only alternative. She suggested mixing fruit, Peanut Butter into plain Protein Powder or trying Syntex nectar. I seriously don't want to spend more money, and now the thought and smell of the shakes make me want to gag. I was reading on here about rolling protein powder into peanut butter balls? I am desperate, not wanting to lose my hair. What about drinking egg whites? Has anyone tried it? Please, any suggestions on how to drink more protein.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
