McButterpants, the Thin Mint shake sounds wonderful, thank you!! I really appreciate all your tips on the shakes in general, and I'm printing the shake recipe now - can't wait to try it!

I'm so glad u got the Nutribullet!! Yay! It's so easy to use and I absolutely love mine, the other thing I have done is the carnation instant Breakfast, NO SUGAR ADDED, and a banana with fat free milk and a few ice cubes in the bullet. It was pretty good! I also have the premier Protein shakes and I like them too.

I will def try that Girl Scout cookie one! Sounds DELISH!!!

I did use the bullet the way they tell u too, 50% spinach, 50% fruit and fill to Water line. It was pretty good! It's an acquired taste haha but I got it down.

:)

I'd like to add I LOVE this site, and am so glad they have an app for it :)

Where are all of you from?

I'm right outside philly, pa!!

Right up the coast! Awesome. I feel this May be my new Facebook. Haha it's more interesting than it nowadays! I am getting pretty depressed waiting for my date. This site seems to help me. Maybe just keep my hopes up that I will have ahold of myself and my life for the first time ever. I'm nervous excited and scared! And I'm confusing the u know what out of my husband. I'm crazy up and down emotionally. And I haven't even had it yet!! I just need hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel. And here helps. So thank you to all that share. :)

My nutritionist said it's ok to try different powders prior but to not go crazy buying different flavors because chanced are that your taste buds may change a bit after surgery.

A lot if sites offer sample packs so u don't have to buy the whole container. Unjury has a sample pack for 21, 28 total with tax and shipping!

U get 2 packets of each kind, a little shaker bottle and a thermometer, I thought it was pretty reasonable. So go for places that have samples!! :)

I have tried a few as well the pure Protein, Premier Protein and EAS and Isopure zero carb (this one I don't like). I wanted to make sure I had a back up or two if I didn't like them after surgery. I also have a sample unjury coming on Monday just in time before my surgery Wednesday. Good luck to you all.

I'm from Fremont, CA.

Hi Everyone, I have a question for those of you who are in the pre-op diet stage or beyond it. My surgery date is Sept. 3rd and I I have ordered the Syntrax and unjury sample packs (thanks to this forum's advice). So now these packages are sitting in my kitchen and they do NOT look very appealing :) What would you advise - should I start trying them now so I know what I like or are they going to be so bad that it will make me dread the pre-op phase even more?! When did you start drinking them - ahead of time or only when you HAD to?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I drank them presurgery. I refused to buy large tubs of powder because I knew my tastes would change post surgery. I did get a lot of sample packets though and I sampled a lot just to get used to making shakes and drinking them. Post surgery I don't like the taste of a lot of RTD or powder shakes, but I still love ABOUT TIME Protein powder and Atkins Protein Shakes.

I'm 6 weeks post op & really sick of Protein Shakes. I'm not able to eat enough to get in all my Protein. I bought protein shakes & bars from GNC called Lean Mean. I aso froze my shakes in ice pop molds & made Fudgsicle's and banana cream pie sickles. So much easier to eat them then to drink the shakes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
