My name is Lisa, from Costa Mesa . I'm 43 with 2 kids. In the last year I've been especially down about myself and my weight. I've always struggled with my weight but it got out of hand this past year at my heaviest weight of 256. After a few months of talking about the possibility of having a sleeve done I finally came to the conclusion that I would have it done. I had my first appointment in March and was scheduled to have surgery on May 28th. It has now been 2 weeks post op and I'm feeling great and have so many questions! Went for my one week checkup and lost 11 lbs. Not sure if that's typical. Also I am surprised at the amount of energy I had. It's now the 2nd wk post op and i am feeling a lack of energy and tired and a little hungry, am I not drinking enough protien PLEASE HELP.......

My NUT said that, for women, the amount of Protein needs to be at least 60 grams/day. Drinking as much Water as possible is also very important. Congratulations on making it through the last 2 weeks and for making the decision to be healthy!

IF you were struggling with your weight and want to minimize the chances of re-gaining lbs. down the road, the following book has helped me a lot:

"Emotional First + Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery" by Cynthia Alexander.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
