shahada 82 Posted June 12, 2014 Totally not there yet, but what about some type of going back to the basics? food habits are incredibly difficult to break - enjoy the weight you have lost and remind yourself why you started the journey.
BeatrizS1974<3 sleeve 94 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) I am 20 months out and I have started mindless eating! Now because I am eating more I am starting to crave more carbs. Anyone have any suggestions on how to reset my mind and body? I am about 17 months out and I just started logging what I eat again. I quickly noticed that I was eating way too many carbs and not enough Protein and calories. I am basically going back to eating high protein and low carb. And trying to reach 1200 calories. (I have been averaging about 700 calories a day) Edited June 13, 2014 by BeatrizS1974<3 sleeve
livvsmum 2,369 Posted June 13, 2014 Perhaps go back to basics for a week or so to try and "reset" your body. But honestly, old habits don't just passively come back, we let them in. Not trying to sound harsh, I am in the same place and that's why I feel like I can say that. I have noticed in the past month that I have allowed myself to revert to some of my unhealthy thinking and behaviors. I've actually started going to a therapist that works specifically with bariatric patients to try get at some of the underlying issues with food that I have. misstiffsue 62 Posted June 13, 2014 Thanks ladies! I broke out the old 3-ring binder I received from the nutritionist at my surgeons office. I think I do need to cut back to basics. I absolutely am not getting enough Protein so I think I also need to go back to keeping a food log. Wish me luck! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
LivingFree! 478 Posted June 13, 2014 Yep, many, many of us find ourselving coming back to this unhealthy carbs addiction. I sure did after about 10 months when my "honeymoon period" ended. We've had it our whole lives; we're not going to get rid of it just because we have our sleeves now. What's different for me now is that I have learned that I don't have to get frustrated and beat myself up because I am a carb-craver. Little by little, we learn what works for us to change our relationship with these carby triggers of ours (all of us have our own special little ones!!!), so they don't have that CRAZY POWER over us any more. It's a long hard process that we have to WANT TO change, but it feels so good when you begin to realize that you CAN walk away from this stuff by CHOICE. Not today, and probably not for a few months, but you can do it. All this emotional stuff is what they (often) DON'T tell us about when we sign up for the surgery. This is the part where we really have to start doing a lot of talking to ourselves about how we want our weight loss story to continue for the rest of our lives. 1 ChristmasJanet reacted to this
yooberry 1 Posted June 13, 2014 I am in the same boat. I have only lost 50 lbs since October 21 is when I had the surgery. I am at a stand still and its killing me mentally. My daughter had the same surgery April 24 and she has surpassed me by at least 20 lbs. I am not gaining weight but I'm not losing. I am thinking about going to the basics too and I started walking and going to the gym last week. I started using my fitness pal too. I love that thing. Real I opener. This week I have cut back tremendously on my sugar. Next week carbs, then the week after that, fried foods. Baby steps right? Time to put in work now. Good luck everyone. This is truly a journey. 1 able2cope reacted to this
