Saramarie1023 27 Posted June 12, 2014 So since my surgery I have been losing a pound or 2 everyday. Since my surgery I have been progressively struggling with getting Protein into my diet. I simply HATE protein shakes! In the last few days I am getting more tired and today I gained .02 lbs. do you think they are relAted?
DarbiMolly 188 Posted June 12, 2014 It's funny because on days when I think I should cut back, if I eat Protein the next day I almost always lose. 1 Saramarie1023 reacted to this
BeagleLover 1,020 Posted June 12, 2014 I suggest you try making shakes with egg whites or other Protein instead of the Protein Powder. That might help make it more palatable. 1 Saramarie1023 reacted to this
crystaljeanine 31 Posted June 12, 2014 I have found a good trick or so I think... I mix 2 scoops of Protein powder , chocolate or vanilla with a Premier Protein shake (vanilla) from costco with plenty of ice and top it off with Water put it all in a Blender Bottle to mix out any lumps and it is really really good and almost covers all 60 g of protein in one big drink The premier Protein Shakes, on their own are too sweet and the powder on its own is just ugh but together it's a perfect blend 2 BeagleLover and Saramarie1023 reacted to this
cybergirl5710 22 Posted June 12, 2014 I'm Pre-Op and don't like them that much already. So, I tell myself it's a smoothie. I mix a little bit of frozen blueberries, a tablespoon of greek yogurt and sometimes (if you can tolerate it--depending on where you are with your recovery) fresh spinach. Put it all in the blender and it's a smoothie. You can't taste the spinach--it just makes it less protien shake--like.
JonathanS 75 Posted June 12, 2014 @@Saramarie1023, not sure how far out you are but a stall here and there is nothing to really worry about. @@crystaljeanine mentioned Premier Protein which is how I made it through life after surgery. I recommend it to everyone! My suggestion is to focus on Water before Protein, dehydration can affect so many things with the body. 1 BeagleLover reacted to this
NMJG 1,266 Posted June 12, 2014 First of all, no one should be weighing every day. Your body changes Water composition and daily weighing is not an accurate reflection of fat loss. Weigh once a week or less. It just makes you crazy. Second, if you don't get your Protein in, you will lose muscle instead of fat. So you will lose weight but still have fat. Not good. Search this site for ways to get Protein in and focus on that and your Water. Protein is so important. Lots of alternatives for protein once you get out of the liquids stage. 1 BeagleLover reacted to this
