It is all about your head. If you don't fix the reasons you are in the place you are you will not succeed. We have to rewire our thinking and it takes work to figure out why we have this addiction and how to handle it because we can never ever trust that we have it under control. It is a lot of work to do this and even though we are losing weight while we are working out our issues and finding other things to replace food it is messing with our heads.

When all is said and done we will still have to watch how we think to keep us in good health. We will always have head games because we are addicted to food!

Don't kid yourself by thinking that you will never have a fat head. Your going to think all kinds of things that you never thought you would trying to make sense of the physical, emotional and mental changes that are about to hit you...

In the end when you are at goal you will struggle with the new you until you become at peace with it all....It is a lifelong struggle but a rewarding one at that because you have put the food demon in its place and you can handle it! :)

Could not have said it better! It seems the closer I get to goal (only 9 pounds away!!!!) the more I am struggling with the internal part of it and dealing with the reasons behind my poor eating behaviors in the first place. Surgery is awesome and helped me lose over 125 pounds, but fixing what was wrong on the inside is what will keep it off for good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
