Need help. My body went down to the weight I had been for many years and just stopped. I lost 60lbs in the first 3months and nothing in the next 3 months. How to I overcome this? I have tried bumping up my Protein and how many steps I get each day. I am still only able to eat1/4-1/3 cup of food at each sitting. I still can't drink Water but I stay hydrated on milk 4 cups daily. Any ideas or suggestions? I just want to move a little more. I still have 50 lbs to loose according to my surgeon. Thank you for your time.

That sounds very frustrating. I'm only 2 months out and just came out of a stall, but just barely. I will check back in to see what advice people give you. I did bump up my Water, increased my Protein and my exercise. I also had to decrease my sodium intake as well as sugar intake. All of this helped. But, I'm still struggling. I seem to be going through some emotional highs and lows right now. With that, my food is not always the best. I will be glad when everything stabilizes for me and I can begin making healthy food choices most of the time. Good luck!

I hit a 4 week stall at 2.5 months out. I went back to full liquid diet for 4 days with 700 cal Mac daily intake. It finally broke! I am now only eating one meal and the remainder liquid to see if I can get the scale to keep moving. I was the same though, I weighed 265 for years prior to the last 50 that I put on the year before surgery. You body gets stuck at the "memory" weight and doesn't want to budge!

I have a couple suggestions that can help. If you are not tracking what you are eating, do so. Measure everything you eat. It is very easy for our eyes to lie to us, and we end up paying more than we think we are. I like MyFitnessPal.com for tracking, but I know there are other apps out there that work well too.

My second suggestion is to add resistance training to your weekly workouts. 30 minutes of full body resistance work (weight training), can make a huge difference and break a stall. There are many workouts that you can find online and you don't need a lot of equipment. A few hand weights or resistance bands can work wonders. We need cardio too, but we often overlook the importance of weight training.

Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your advice.

No I also drink a 20oz Protein Shake along with my 4 cups of milk.

The only thing I could add is to urge you to get more Water in, even if you have to flavor it if pure Water is just too pure. I use Crystal Light for mine when I can't stand to drink plain water. Based on your post, it seems like yo may not be getting enough fluids. Most surgeons recommend at least 64oz of non caloric fluids for good health per day, but also to prevent dehydration and Constipation. You stated that you increased your Protein, keep in mind that when you do this, you also increase your calories, so logging your food is key to having a good idea of the total calories you are consuming. Baconville suggested ramping up the exercise, I would agree, with weights and cardio. I wish you luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
