Lindsay_W89 7 Posted June 11, 2014 Today is 20 days post op, had my gallbladder taken out yesterday. Let me tell you my sleeve surgery was no where near as painful as this surgery. My IV's keep going bad. In 3 days I have had 10 sticks, mainly from nurses trying to reestablish a line, which is how I was receiving my liquid gold (Demerol) and of course the nurses cannot get ahold of the Dr on call so here I am laying in a hospital bed, bloated like no other, and in pain. Lord please let me go home tomorrow!

Lord please let me go home tomorrow! Wow sorry to hear that. I had mine out 7 months post. Mine was easy and out same day. Hang in there. Was it emergency when you had it out or sceduled. 20 days post that is crazy. Usually it is from rapid weight loss. I wish you a speedy recovery. I don't even miss my gallbladder. Feel the same. I did wish I had it removed when I did my sleeve. It was a bummer to have surgery again 7 months out.... yuk.... 1 Lindsay_W89 reacted to this
Lindsay_W89 7 Posted June 11, 2014 It wasn't scheduled. About 5 days post op I came to the ER for the same problems but I was too fresh to have it out then. And all of a sudden Monday the symptoms came back. So my surgeon took it out I found out they were taking it like an hour before I had surgery! At least I have some awesome nursing staff. A total of 11 sticks
Lindsay_W89 7 Posted June 11, 2014 Later I now have my IV back so I can have my pain meds and Reglan again. Found out this morning that I have biliary reflux. So I'm going home with lots of new meds and prayers that it will get better or they will have to do a gastric bypass. So I have to hit the low fat diet hard because I sure don't want the bypass surgery.

I hope your insurance is covering. For me it was another 4,000 out of pocket! Hope those pain meds make you feel better too. I also will send you good vibes for not having to go in for bypass. Keep your chin up. Sounds like you are and having positive thoughts and that really does help. 1 Lindsay_W89 reacted to this
Crosby 303 Posted June 11, 2014 I was wondering how it compared to gallbladder surgery..which I had twice. Yes twice..they missed it the first time. I went 5 years thinking my gallbladder was out. First surgery recover was very rough..second ( when they actually removed it) was easy. Hope you feel better quickly. 1 Lindsay_W89 reacted to this
Lindsay_W89 7 Posted June 14, 2014 The gallbladder surgery was 20 times worse than my sleeve was. By this point in my sleeve recovery I only took pain meds maybe twice a day... This go around I take it every 6 hours.... And I honestly think it is because my body has been through so much! I am also very tired which wasn't the case with my VSG either. But I am thankful for being young and having a great support system who are all there no matter what when I need them ! An yes I am trying to keep a positive outlook on this! If The Lord meant for me to have the bypass his will will be done! But I'm going to do my darnedest to do everything I can to prevent another surgery! That way if I do have to do the bypass atleast I can say I have given it my everything!!!

Lindsay_W89 7 Posted June 15, 2014 The worst part of today is the exhaustion. I have slept the better part of the day away. Went to the grocery store for maybe 30 minutes and i was just overwhelmed by how tired i became. Pain is better today, it seems to be at it's worst when i first wake up and late in the evening. Thank you all for your words of encouragement. Today was actually my day to advance to crunchy toast, tilapia, mashed potatoes and so forth. I think my melba toast got stuck so i think i am going to stay away from bread products for now. I have a co-worker who did not follow the diet at all and nothing ever got stuck for her but here i am doing what i am supposed to do and a piece of toast gets stuck.... bless it lol!!! Oh well i will try it again in a few weeks!!! I guess oatmeal, grits, and mashed potatoes will be my friend for a little bit till i feel my stomach can handle it. Hope everyone is well! Ya'll have a great weekend!!!
missbrown30 148 Posted June 15, 2014 Hi Lindsay. I'm sorry that you had to go through a 2nd more painful surgery. I'm glad you're felling much better now. I had my gallbladder out the same day I had my sleeve surgery because I had been having problems with my gallbladder for years. I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone, lol. I'm convinced that all the pain I had was from my gallbladder and not the sleeve. I was lucky to only have pain for 3 days. I'm 10 weeks post op and I am feeling great! I wish you the best of luck! 1 Lindsay_W89 reacted to this

Crosby 303 Posted June 15, 2014 Sorry but how did they miss it? I have no idea. The surgeon told us she took it out. After discovering I still had one I obtained the surgical notes. They too stated it had been removed.
