Ummm. your port is showing ...

Recommended Posts

Ughh the more I lose the more it sticks out. Been at goal for about 6 months. Down to 18% body fat. Actually can see the beginnings of a 6 pack under all my loose skin and now my darn port is more prominent than ever. Planning on skin surgery in November but it seems so far away. Does anyone who is super fit with low body fat have pics of a Tummy Tuck after surgery and experience with a the port being moved or a lower lying replacement? I'm curious if I'm actually going to be able to pull off a bikini or working out in a sports bra after without someone wondering what the heck is that huge lump in the middle of my awesome abs lol.

Mine doesn't stick out much so I'm wondering if I received a lower profile port at the time of my surgery? I'm curious about the same thing but either way it's not going to stop me from sporting a bikini (once the TT is done). Just tell people when you're this awesome, you get blessed with a 7 pack:-)

Mine also sticks out. I've just accepted that it will always be there. I heard something about a skinny girls port but I've tried to research it and nothing has came up.

Does it show throw your clothes? Like if you wear a form fitting shirt? I am not a goal and don't have that issue yet, but I am concerned that could be a problem. I have not told anyone other than my hubby and one sibling so I am extra paranoid too LOL!!

If it's after I eat mine sometimes will. My port always sticks out more when I'm full. I usually wear tighter tank tops under my shirts. It's not something that anyone would notice unless I point it out.

The port is attached to the abdominal muscle wall...(or at least it is supposed to be), under all the fat, then skin....

Once all the belly fat is gone, and my stomach muscles got hard as rocks, it sits there right under the skin, for the whole world to see....as big as day. Can even see the tubing coming out the side for a few nches before it goes deep....

It actually looks like a lolly-pop under my skin.

Have to be careful not to wear too tight shirts.....but at the gym everyone can see it...fortunately no one has ever commented.

I can run my finger over it, and feel every single nook and cranny....

If you click my Avatar Picture to see the larger one in my profile, you can see my port right above my right hand....and that picture is small...

I'm in the process of setting up port revision surgery for this very reason. Mine is at my waistline, a tiny bit to the left of my belly button. It was fine in the beginning, but after dropping 70 pounds, it's too close to the surface. It's bothersome when I lean up against something, and the waist of my pants digs into it, etc. My doc said that he'll move it to the underside of the muscle, and possibly use a low profile port. Apparently, this is pretty common once all the weight comes off.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
