Top 10 things you want to be able to do after the surgery

Recommended Posts

1. Be Healthy, not worrying that my weight will kill me and leave my kids without their mom.

2. Have energy/stamina to keep up with my kids and enjoy doing the things that I want to do.

3. Exercising without feeling like I'm too fat to work out the way I want too.

4. Be able to actually enjoy shopping for clothes instead of dreading it.

5. Being able to be spontaneous. Such as a last minute sleep over at a friend's knowing I can just borrow something to sleep in.

6. Go anywhere and be able to sit comfortably and not worry if the chair can hold my weight.

7. To be able to run a marathon, if I ever am so inclined.

8. Ride a horse without fear that I'm hurting it.

9. Go on a roller coaster without being scared the locks won't hold or afraid of not fitting in the seat.

10. Buying a motorcycle knowing I can ride it with ease.

You having any cravings at all? Hope you're feeling great!

I am 5 days post op and I haven't had any cravings. My husband got himself some food while I was in the hospital and the smell of it made me sick. I will admit it's really strange watching him eat while I am on this liquid diet. He eats a lot. I can't believe how much food I used to eat. I don't want to go back to that.

My pre op appointments are tomorrow and my surgery is next Monday, 7/7. I'm really inspired by everyone's list, so here's mine:

10. Not have to worry I'm going to break a chair.

9. To shop with my daughter in regular size stores and be stylish.

8. No more chub rub!

7. To sit in theaters, on planes, in church, etc. without infringing on the person next to me.

6. To hike, bike & swim and not have to worry about getting hurt because of my weight.

5. To take pride in my appearance.

4. To feel and look like a strong, determined woman, not someone who feels scattered and weak.

3. To finish a triathlon, half marathon & century ride (not on the same day, lol)

2. More endurance!

1. Knowing that I've finally beaten the single most challenging obstacle I have ever faced, finally!

I forgot all about the lady business area. I haven't had skinny sex since I was 17, I'm 34 now. Heck, I was overweight then too, I was somewhere around 220. Sex in assorted positions would be nice. I know TMI!! My bypass is June 25th.

I agree!!! That should have been higher on my list!! Lol can't wait to have skinny sex LOL

Save your lists! Hang them where you can see them and use them as a way to measure your success! All your NSV's (non scale victories) will be a better measure of success than the number on the scale. Check off each one as you reach it and Celebrate each one because it's YOUR hard work and sacrifice that made you successful. Look at your list when you hit a plateau to remind yourself of why you're doing this and how far you've come. The scale is just a number - the things you achieve are your LIFE! :-)

Tho we might be from different walks of life.....we all feel the same struggles. We all FEEL. We HURT. We NEED. WE LOVE and DESERVE to BE LOVED. Dont let the scale control u. Let your personal victories be celebrated and appreciated. God bless all of us!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
