OK calm down...LOL! First of all, immediately after surgery, you'll be sore and more than anything, bloated and with zero appetite. Secondly, once you start eating (Jello and liquids), due to gas, it will be a bit painful when it goes down, so being that you're not hungry and it's painful, you won't think about food, nonetheless feel hungry or have any urge to eat.

Once you do start eating food, you get full so fast that you won't want food all the time and with just a little, and hopefully the right healthy foods, you will feel satisfied. Also, once you notice on our clothes and your scale the weight coming off, you will be so thrilled that you will want to continue with this healthy eating and watch more weight come off constantly.

Be positive and get ready to feel amazing after a few days and especially after the first 4 weeks when a lot of weight has come off, people are noticing, you feel lighter and healthier! Good Luck!! Don't worry, be happy, go on this journey very positively!

Hi there. My experience so far has been great! Everyday I am happier and happier as people notice that I am losing weight, seeing my scale numbers go down slowly without fear that if I mess up one meal, it'll go up again, as this is for life. So long as I stay within my small amounts of food which is very satisfying I am good!

Two weeks before surgery I started being really good, cutting down on carbs and especially big amounts of food. One week before I subsituted one of my meals with a Protein shake (I like the Premier brand best -- you can get them at Walmart). They have 30 grams of Protein and they taste pretty good. Then the last three days before surgery I went all liquids with eating pureeds for one meal (usually dinner) a Protein Shake for Breakfast and Soup for lunch. I didn't eat anything but broth the day before.

Post of after surgery, only broth, Jello, and a little Protein Shake. You can't really take too much that week, but I promise once you start pureeds then soft foods the 2nd and third weeks, all is much better!

I take my Vitamins (all chewables) and I purchase them at Walmart or thru Bariatric Choice, it's a website.

Pain after surgery was definetely bearable, no big deal, only thing when you come home is the gas pains, and honestly, the only thing that helped tremendously was WALKING WALKING WALKING. The Gas X didn't do anything for me, walking did, especially after every meal, I still do so, 6 weeks out, it helps a lot. The first week you're super bloated and uncomfortable due to bloatness and gas, the 7th day out you feel a lot better, 2 weeks later, great and 3rd week, sleep normaly and feel like your old self, except lighter which is great!

Good Luck! No reason to feel scared or negative, you'll do great!

Hi SS,

Before and after the surgery, it's important to take big deep breaths and imagine yourself healthy, sexy and strong to keep the negative thoughts out of your mind. I'm 2 weeks out from vsg 28 lbs down and my husband had vsg 8 months ago 100 lbs down.

This surgery take away the choice of how much you eat, you can only eat what your new pouch stomach, (I call mine Grumblina) will handle which is not much. It is a tool to help you beat the inevitable truth of weight loss. Calories in must be less than calories spent. Sure there's lots of tricks to help you with that like drink Water, get in Protein, limit carbs, and get exercise everyday… but because it's so simple thats why this surgery works.

I can't describe how not being hungry for days on end feels, other than it will happen for sure. I haven't felt hungry once physically. I had a lot of food dreams the first week, it was an actual emotional withdrawal from food comfort. I recognized it and now I'm over it and what I put in my mouth is fuel, not comfort.

I did 50 carbs or less for 2 months before surgery, liquids only less than 50 carbs for 4 days before surgery, Clear Liquids for 3 days, full/opaque liquids up to current. Tomorrow I switch to "mushies" which is like mushed cauliflower, applesauce, yogurt type food. I take Bariactiv Vitamins, they dissolve in your mouth but you have to have something on your stomach first (not plain water)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
