How did you decide what you wanted your goal weight to be? I don't really have a goal weight... I just want to look drop dead gorgeous in a little black dress and not have to wear clothes to try to cover everything.. also a sleeveless shirt and a summer dress... so excited to even think about it!

First and foremost, I set my goal so that it would be a "normal" bmi. Then I let my body decide where it naturally wanted to be. Also, I feel that if I lost anymore weight, I'd look sickly.

Based on my height and bone structure I want to be about 120-125. That is within the healthy range for me. I am 5'2.5". I've been as low as 128 and I felt AMAZING!

I chose my goal weight first by making sure it was within the "normal" BMI range, and from there just kind of thought of the lowest weight I've been in my adult life where I felt healthy and fit and pushed it 5 pounds less than that. :-) It's pretty arbitrary actually.

I've wondered this as well. I think 178 is supposed to be my ideal weight based on build and height, but I can't even fathom that number.

I think I am just going to wait and see where I am in a year and then decide.

I guess I picked the last weight I remember feeling comfortable in my skin which was around 175. I can't imagine being smaller, but I won't rule it out. Anything is possible now :-)

Did not think to check charts for my recommended weight. I will now though to see if my goal is "healthy"

Ok I checked and wow! It says healthy for my height is 120-140! That gave me a slight anxiety attack...I haven't weighed that much since 7th grade. Feels strange to set a goal for a preteen weight...even a fat preteen ;-)

Same for me. The "healthy" weight seems to mean perfectly skinny.

The best I have ever seen as an adult is 240. I would be thrilled to be back there again.

I'm tall - 5' 10.5" and the lowest I have ever been as an adult is about 170. That was at the end of Army basic training 20 years ago. At that time I wore size 12 pants. My initial goal weight is 200 (set by docs office) lbs but if I can get down to 180 I will be in healthy BMI. 200 is a comfortable wright for me. I can't imagine being smaller - time will tell though!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
